Unfortunately, hosting the NCAA tourney may interfere with hosting NIT games.

You've already ruled them out of the MAC tourney? No chance against CMU?

That remains to be seen, but if they couldn't get the job done last year against Bradford and CMU in the tourney with a talented senior laden team with tons of experience, a very deep bench and the best record in the MAC going into the tourney, realistically the odds are not going to be in their favor for a tourney championship this year with an inexperienced freshman laden team----of course you never know for sure until the tourney plays out. Last year I thought they had a very good chance of winning the tournament but they fooled me. This year I don't think they have much of a chance of winning it, but maybe they will fool me again.

True but they only look at seeding once you are invited to the tourney and that hasn't happened for a while now. First things first.

I said "almost certainly," which I think is pretty accurate. If winning the MAC tournament meant just beating CMU on a neutral court, then I'd give us a decent chance, maybe one in five. But if I remember correctly, if you're not seeded in the top two, you have to win three consecutive games, and if you're not seeded in the top four, you have to win four consecutive games. That doesn't seem realistic for this year's team. Central is not the only good team in the conference.

Believe me, I'd love to be proven wrong.

I guess that's the beauty of the conference tournament. Fans of every school can feel like their team has a chance.

I thought CMU might make a small dent nationally but so far not so good. I'm not sure why I'm more patient with hoops than football but after the season we had last year I'm OK with a (slightly) down year. I think we'll be a special team in tthree years if we hang on to our recruits

Last year's bust really hurt this year and next- instead of two ultra-quick guards and a deadeye threepoint shooter in this sophomore class we have no sophomore class. With Harris eligible and the current frosh with a year under their elastic we should be better next year, then really good when these frosh hit their junior year. If they play with the energy Sophie's mom watches with, we'll be awesome.
