The American football media contract is still under the old Big East contract for this football season, however, it won't be a downgrade ahead.

Their new contract has even better exposure. The new tv deal for next year will have 2-3x as many national broadcasts for the conference on ABC, ESPN, or ESPN 2, and every conference game will be broadcast somewhere. What they didn't get in money, they are sure going to get with a chance to be seen.

...on ESPN3.

No...on ESPN-U and ESPN-News

otherwise the stajium is really sweet and a great place to watch a game

This has been discussed on the Rice board. I think it's a good solution - reduce capacity a bit, but do it by improving the game time experience.

So when I get my season tickets, I should ask for the Fat Ass section?

I think the new term is "modern comfort fit"...

Much better for my self-image. Damn, I hate mirrors.

I'll wait for your answer. 03-zzz

Sorry, the name of the thread got changed and lost track of it... didn't realize I was asked a question.

Well generically speaking from ESPN, the number of national ota and cable broadcasts will be greater than the TOTAL number of broadcasts in the current deal, including those presently on ESPN 3 -- thus doubling the amount of ota (over the air - ABC) or cable broadcasts from the current deal. ESPN says so in their own words. ESPN Media Rights Deal

The American was a bit more specific with its presser, because they had previously announced the initial NBC offer, which had to be matched by ESPN, and the Hartford Courant spells it out nicely... Paul Doyle's write-up.

The original press release that I had saved the link for, is gone, because since that announcement the conference was renamed, the websites all changed, and I just can't pin down the initial contract statement and presser from the conference with the listing of minimum # of games ota on ABC, and on cable ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN U -- which hit national number of cable homes in February of this year, but wasn't originally last September when NBC pitched its deal and ESPN said it would match it. Also since that announcement ESPN/the American have sold subcontracting rights to 13 more football broadcasts to CBS and CBS Sports Network to ensure all conference owned games are televised.

Here is a partial shot of the UTSA crowd at Rice last year.

and that picture cuts off a lot of the UTSA fans. We had a great tailgate that day.

I can see Rice having a bad turnout but not too many people would brave those temperatures no matter what was at stake. To begin with Marshall fans you can't really be bragging about attendance when UTEP with a 2-10 record still had more fans than you. So grow up.

At the time you wrote this this was only one or two Marshall posts in the thread and Marshall posters didn't start the thread. Look back through it. It's all UAB NT UTEP, and ECU. Pretty sure the Marshall fans were watching the game.
