When the high tomorrow for Missoula is only supposed to be -1, with wind chill values as low as -34 you are talking about life threatening temperatures. If he was complaining about temps in the low 20's he would be whining, but this is a valid complaint IMO.
As an aside, I have a relative assigned to Malmstrom AFB. At 6 AM their time it was colder there than it was at the South Pole at the same time.

I grew up in the North and trust me, anything around zero degrees celsius is very, very cold, even if you are used to it.
Don't kid yourself, everyone is miserable in that weather.
However, that is easier weather to play in for most folks than 95 degrees with 100 percent humidity, as you often see in September in the Deep South.
That too can be life threatening - as we see just about every football preseason.
They are going to play at around noon local time and the winds will be light so, though it will certainly be cold, it should be manageable.
I think the real challenge for Coastal Carolina will be to maintain their focus and keep it on the Grizzlies instead of the weather. Also, if they run a pass first Air Raid type of spread, they're donzo no matter what. Most people can't throw or catch the ball in that weather - especially if you aren't used to doing those things in those conditions. Also, the kicking game too will be an adventure.
Personally, I love watching games in those conditions but there is no question it puts the Southern team at a major disadvantage.
