RE: Football parent thinks it's unfair to play road game because of the cold
The coldest game I ever sit and watched was a -5 below game against Southern Miss. You just have to be dressed proper for the game. Hell, my 3 year old daughter watched that whole game. She had fun, and threw snowballs! 13 degrees is the coldest game, that I ever in played. again, we just dress properly in 1967.

Hell, we spent the 10 hours on the rifle range at -2 below in the Army. The Army says, you fight a war at every temperature and I agree! I delivered food to people unable to get out, took them to Doctors, drug stores, helped people with broken down vehicles' , and took people to shelters that lost their heat, when Kentucky's Interstates were closed to the public for four days due to fourday blizzard that dumped a total of about 24 inches of snow.

Some of you are weak. All the old Army guys will tell you drive on take care of business. If you want stay home, well that's your right, and if you kid thanks it is to cold then quit playing football, again its your right. However, do start telling all the players, coaches and fans that will show up what the NCAA and those fans should, because weak and unprepared to go to a cold football game. I laughed my @ss off about the post.

Isn't Coastal the team that has a former CEO as a coach? That was a pretty interesting story when I read about it.

Because Army training is totally the same as a college football game.

What's funny is that the Big Ten is playing it's Championship Game in a nice temperature controlled Stadium while the two Big 12 games were played out in the cold that most folks equate with Big Ten weather.

Just because someone doesn't enjoy cold weather doesn't mean they're wusses.... if I had a dollar for every time I heard a tourist in my hometown say "Oh my gawd this heat and humidity is un-BEAR-able!! I could never live in this climate, I need to go inside." ....well, I'd probably have a Benjamin.

That's true too.

I think this is a warm weather resident thing. I have friends from all over the country and when we get a lot of snow, they're always all over me through texts and whatnot talking about how they would never live in a cold climate because of the snow and cold and all the rest of it.

I usually tell them they're being silly. The truth is snow is fun and a good walk in the cold can be invigorating! I LOVE exercising in the cold - it's the best. Now, shoveling a TON of snow is not fun and when it is below zero for more than a day or two, that gets old too. However, from my standpoint it beats having to live in constant fear of tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.

As my dear old mother has always told me: That's why Baskin-Robbins has 31 flavors.

i have to agree with you. i'd rather have to deal with 3 feet of snow that endure the upper 90 degrees + and the oppressive humidity that exists in some areas

Heck NO! Bring on the humidity baby. I like living in a perma-sauna.

thats true. however we're not talking about some random person. football is (should be) and outdoor sport. you play in all types of weather, cold, hot wet dry. If aperson doesnt like playing in different weather conditions, then thye should play a sport that is played in a climate controlled environment (or have their kids do that)

It gets cold in montana in the winter. If you or your child cant handle that then dont play.
What next to complain about? The grass is to sharp! The sun shines in my little johnny's eyes the stadium should face a different way! Its too hilly to run that x-country course! the tennis courts are too close to the road it might be noisy! The lights in the basketball arena are too bright!

I see it all the time, some of the kids today are too coddled. If this comment is real, its parents like this that will ruin sports

I'd say the extreme cold conditions are more harmful for the fan than the actual players. Players have torpedo heaters and several other things to keep warm on the sidelines. Could easily fit hand warmers under your gloves. Plus they can wear underarmor and several other things to help stay warm. Fans, on the other hand, can order a hot chocolate that is really chocolate milk and/or coffee that is really a mocha lol. I literally ordered a beer at a Steelers game and before I got halfway done w/ it the beer froze. Sitting in the stand when it's no more than 5 degrees is miserable, even if your team wins and is headed to the Super Bowl.

My cousin and her husband are Montana alums and were at the game faithfully today. They did admit it was very very cold.

So much this. Also the bands. In that weather the instruments freeze. I remember a Kent State?Akron Thanksgiving eve day that was particularly miserable. Not even the trumpets could last long enough to get through an entire show. Probably should have used vodka on the valves...anyway the players got through it with no problems but the fans were kind of bleh not that there were that many fans there that day.

Coastal Carolina has to play a playoff game in Missoula, Montana. Oh, the humanity, having to play when the temperature is below freezing.

Rumor has it this is from a parent of one of the CCU players.
