If you ask me that question the same time next year, it will be an emphatic Randolph Duke quote "Sell, sell!"

Couldn't agree more. ANYONE who calls himself "Tuxedo Yoda" can't be wrong.

Until there's someone who is more than a nickname and a twitter account suggesting UC is on the move to a better conference, you have to sell.

Chris Petersen bailing on Boise (after numerous offers in the past) now should tell you all you need to know about the odds of success in the new format -- where even the best programs will be at a 10-1 or 20-1 cash disadvantage before the first ticket or is even sold.

It's not like UC wasn't behind on funding before.

I picked buy.

Realignment potential....although, we must consider that UC in a conference like the big 12 may not do as well as it has the last 8 years or so. Ohio has 1 power conference school and Cincinnati is a good market and Ohio is a fertile recruiting area

UC at top of AAC food chain

Tuberville Whit and Ono....very strong management group

Nippert renovations

------

Back to realignment, UC seems to be well positioned to be next candidate or in next group of two. I looked at map of ACC yesterday and it's so blaring especially when talking about adding an ACC network, that Ohio would be a desirable add more than any other location. Big 12 seemingly needs to add two at least.

Even if realignment ends up dropping to 4 conferences, and some current P5 teams drop out, those mixed with rest of best from AAC like UC would be an upgrade and possibly even result in more money too.

Way way to early to be a sell. In fact sellers would be classified as panic sellers.

Should be able to finish top 3 of AAC every year and win it at least some of the time....reality is UC, UCF and Houston will be top of league every year

RE: Buy, Sell or Hold?
Depends on the circumstances. Assuming UC is in the American for the forseeable future, it's a "Buy":
- UC will continue to compete for American championships
- There's a good chance being ranked high enough to make an access Bowl
- BSU, Freno State, NIU will not maintain their rankings - good chance for UC to fill the gap
- CTT will bring in solid recruits
- CTT's system will be fully implemented

If UC is invited to join the Big12, it's more of a "Hold" as it will take time to be able to compete for championships every year.

I'm not as high on our QB's next year as others are (Kiel has looked sub-par in most of the practices I've watched this fall), we'll be starting new DT's again, we lose Blair in the middle, RDA4 is coming back and with a new QB we may be relying on a running game with a 5'6" 160lbs RB that's tailored to a 6'1" 220 RB, and we have a terrible kicking situation. That being said, our DB's gained another year of experience (we had three players with freshman eligibility playing significant time) and Trenier Orr will be back healthy and (presumably) with an added year of eligibility. Ti'on Green has another offseason to try to learn how to block and become the feature back that we know he can become, and our DE's, OLB's, and WR's all return quite a few VERY quality contributors.

If we have a bad season next year in PBS, the graveyard-like environment that place will have will destroy any increasing interest in the program from outside of current fans. The Nippert Expansion is huge, but if we lose the momentum we've gained over the past decade because of a combination of a bad season, playing in PBS, and a loss of fan interest in a town that only cares about college football if its winning, we could have big problems.

Then again, if news breaks in February that we've accepted an invitation to the BIG 12, all of this will be moot.

Mostly just curious, are you including Munchie in that or no?

There is alot more to Petersen leaving than conf affiliation.

I was going to say that he had 2.5 million reasons to leave Boise, but then I saw that he was making 2.2 there.

He would be nuts not to take the job if offered. Washington is a great university located in a nice city like Seattle and they have a fantastic football tradition. They play in one of the best conferences and have a newly refurbished stadium to boot.

Out of curiosity, would those voting sell/strong sell be willing to share why (if there's logic behind the vote)?

Guessing conference affiliation.

If I thought we were in this for at least the next 3 years for sure, I'd be a sell. This conference is going to collectively choke off in the new landscape.

RE: Buy, Sell or Hold?
I voted sell because after what I saw over the course of the football season and with the prospect of an ever declining conference affiliation, I don't see things moving in the right direction.

I'm not at all excited about what this staff brings to the table and what they can do with our program. What they were able to accomplish with the schedule in front of them was nothing to instil confidence in them or this program with them at the helm. Especially if they continue to believe they'll succeed with a pro-set offense here; I hear that and I think UConn under Edsall as our best aspiration.

I don't expect a bowl win, but that would help with raising any anticipation I have for next year.

Basketball didn't factor into my decision, and still doesn't. And regardless of whether I really sell (i.e. drop my season tickets) that money will still go back into the school. I would never sell UC.

RE: Buy, Sell or Hold?
I'm a definite BUY. As bleak as the conference situation appears at this moment I believe conference realignment will resume in the next one to three years for one simple reason: money. UC has taken the necessary steps to put the university at or near the top of that list.

UC football still lacks the national prominence we feel it deserves. I don't believe that equates to a lack of respect for what's been accomplished here. The commentators on the Louisville game gave UC high marks for their recent success, the hiring of Tuberville and the Nippert renovation/expansion. Our enthusiastic crowd, historic stadium and dynamic campus were all showcased for the nation that night.

To me, the only risk with a BUY decision is if realignment has ended forever. Past history suggests that conferences are ever changing. The stakes for future expansion are higher than ever before as the money flows from cable TV conglomerates. I won't bet against a B12 CCG or a B10 or ACC expansion to sixteen teams. Any of those scenarios puts UC in play either as an invitee or a backfill for another school on the move.
