Are there any rumors about Mack Brown?
I believe that he should resign Monday and avoid any potential messy situation. I doubt he will be fired but suspect that the administration will be putting tremendous pressure on him to back out gracefully.

But it needs to happen quick so that a new coach can be put in place for the recruiting process.

Why should a potential 9-3 Mack Brown resign just 4 years after playing for a national title?

Red McCombs thinks he'll be back. That's over a billion votes.

i was debating posting this yesterday but id figured id just get yelled at for trolling........

of all the forums i regularly frequent,

since thursday I have been seeing an unusual high amount (and fairly consistent) of comments along the lines of "i have sources and they say: saban to texas done deal....will be announced within 24 hrs"

normally id say TROLL to myself however this time it appears to be a bit different from the regular troll. But seeing how its starting to close in on 24 HRs im starting to call BS on it.

Because at Texas 9-3 isn't getting the job done and 4 years ago might as well have been 20 years ago.

I agree. I do not think there is anyway Texas would announce the hiring of Saban before Texas plays their last regular season game.

The one thing that woudl be interesting.. Say MSU beats Ohio St and FSU does the unthinkable and loses to Duke.

What does Saban do if he wants to go to Texas? Bama is in the title game.

These same rumors wax and wane.

I didn't think for a moment Saban was going to Texas 2 months ago. Nothings changed over the last 2 months.

Maybe he will, but I seriously doubt it. Saban is 62. Why would he start over now? Why would Texas want someone who might retire in just a few years?

As for whether Brown is leaving, I don't believe any of these posters have any more inside knowledge than I do and I don't have any. Most of them I am certain are just rumors started by someone trying to undermine him. Many others are wishful thinking. Is there truth? I don't have any idea. But neither do any of these other people you read on the message boards. And one, in particular, who charges $9.95 is totally clueless (I'm not talking about the other Brown).

Fisher's not leaving FSU. It's just Jimmy Sexton working the media to make sure Fisher gets a raise at the end of the season, not that that was ever actually in doubt.

Speaking of McCombs, the rumor of about two months ago was that Brown told McCombs that he'd want to coach again next season if the Horns win or tie for the league title. They have to win today to tie for the title.

Good point. Maybe you'll be proven right.

This is the same Red McCombs that when he owned the Minnesota Vikings he'd go to different newspapers peddling the Vikings to LA and San Antonio. Obviously that didn't happen either. 04-cheers
