Rockets were 2-14 from 3 to start the game, since then 8-16.

RE: WBB today
D took a step backwards in the second half, but shooting improved a lot. Lots of contributions from the freshmen with Steph and Ana out.

12 points, 6 boards for Baker.
Braun had 7 boards.
Elana 10 points

Wouldn't have found ugly wins acceptable during football season...won't want to see too many with men's bball this season.. But will gladly accept them this Lady Rockets season

Detroit committed very few fouls in the second half meaning Rockets did not attack the rim and settled for outside shooting. Upside, ton of freshmen played quality minutes.

Attendance was 3837. The difference between men and women's game was the student turnout was much better at the men's game.

First Lady Rockets game I have been able to make it too this year, ugly in the way we let them get back into the game. Nice win 9 pt win. UT is 3-0 vs Titans this year. Detroit looked older and more upper class girls. We look like a walking infirmary. Good thing we have a med center, holy cow. Half the team is in knee braces, boots or crutches. The girl with the club on her shooting arm, what a gutsy performance. Dola looks a lot slower this year, did she wear the knee brace last year, I can't remember? Never been a crunch fan, but she played well tonight. Love to see rebounding stats, felt like we owned the boards. Nice crowd.

Thought we did OK with two starters missing. Ana clearly follows this board- didn't take a shot tonight. 03-wink Hate to see all the injuries (even our transfer is on crutches) but it allows us to build depth. Could have used Ana's outside touch and Steph's length today but I think we found our outside threats in Elena and Lindsey.

It's great to have some shooters on the court. We won't be so vulnerable to zones any more.

Recker is not really a starter.

RE: WBB today
Much of the game was played with 3 freshmen on the court at the same time and except for a few turn overs in the last 5-7 minutes of the game it was not all that noticeable that they were freshmen. Freshman Lindsay Baker's clutch 3 point shooting helped prevent the Detroit comeback attempt from really getting any serious traction.

A little surprised to hear that since she' s started 4 of 6 games.

Detroit beat us 46-44 on the boards. TOs killed them- they had 21 to 13 for Toledo with Inma and Dola combining for nine steals.

You can't really say they're both starters, though, can you? That was before Jones came back. I guess it's hard to say who our starters are since we haven't yet played a game with everyone available.

That is as much the issue as anything I guess. We've hardly had a player without some sort of injury. Either way, Recker is among the top 6 in minutes played and we could have used her. Certainly could have used Ana early on. There were some UGLY shots going up.

RE: WBB today
Tough loss for the Lady Rockets. For the most part their offense looked ok but the defense still needs some work. The freshmen are seeing a lot of floor time and for the most part don't look like freshman. Neither side could buy any points over the last 3-4 minutes and for while it looked like the score was permanently stuck at 61-61 but with about 3 seconds left Valpo put in the winning basket on an offensive rebound under their own basket for the win. Nice tourney for Valpo----they did not look like an 0-7 team today or yesterday----of course they leave town with 2 wins and improve to 2-7.
