RE: A Good First Year
UC cannot help the fact that the TV networks just don't think it is valuable enough to give a big bump to a TV contract to add them. I don't blame anyone at UC... I do blame the UC fan base and alumni.

Agree with everyone that the talent was better in some areas but weaker in others during BK, CBJ, and CTT starts. I'm much happier with CTT than CBJ, and hold onto Whit's hire as one of the few positives for this University in the last year.

But does it make a difference? Someone already posted that the talent coming in is more suited for the AAC. And it will be each and every year. And Clifton is correct, the AAC bowl picture next year is a dumpster fire. And the schedule next year in the AAC, and at PBS, is worse yet. Rivalries...except for the forgotten program in Oxford....are now GONE.

Yet we have a President that is clearly riding on the success of the men that came before him. I was wondering if it is Bob Goin, Joe Steger, Bob Huggins, and Brian Kelly that were holding Ono up in this picture from last night.

Yes, I know that Nippert had to be improved and the Olympic sports be properly funded for us to get the magical invite. But the clock is ticking, and we all know what we want from Santa this Christmas.

Ono is loved by the students and has done a lot for the university.

Step off the ledge my friend. BK and Butch rarely had any 4 star recruits brought into this school either. And the ones that they did (Dyjaun Lewis, Poteat, Coney) have yet to do anything.

TT made a very average secondary into a formidable opponant. The run defense was, for the most part, excellant all year. And i beleive the Talent on this team was not as good as Butch's first year.

I mean, Kelce, Wolfe, Collaros, Pead, Shaffer, Bomar, Binns, Woods, Thompkins?, Mcclung Those guys are less talented than our current team?? Most of them got a chance to play on Sunday. Who from the current team will be able to say that? Kay? Tion? Blair?

Don't get me wrong, I love our current team. But they are less talented than the 12-0 team Butch inherited.

The schedule was bas as well. I agree. However, they went 9-3 against which is not AWFUL. Butch went 4-8 against some pretty crappy teams as well. Wasnt that the year 8-4 UCONN won the league?

Seriously fellas, all things considered, it was a good first year for TT. Provided we dont lay an egg in our bowl game, he should continue our streak of 10 win seasons. As long as we do that, the future of this program will be fine. Im sure of it.

I have no idea how hard Ono & Whit are trying to move us out of the AAC (pretty hard would be my guess), but this isn't a sales situation. The B12 is going to decide to expand or it isn't, and we're not going to have any influence on that decision. If they decide to expand, then we'll have the opportunity to sell ourselves and get in there. That's when Whit and Ono need to step up, and they need to be ready to do so.

If they had this schedule in 2010 and a roster that had more talent than at least 10, probably 11 of the teams on their schedule you can bet they would have had a similar record in Butch's first year.

Agreed. 10 wins was the min for ths year to be considered a good year. With this schedule and the returning talent, 9 wins is a less than good year.

The fact that it took 2 losses and an injury to Munchie for Tubberville to figure out which QB should be starting and what type of offense this team should be running is a huge knock against him and was a disastrous coaching mistake. It cost them the USF game and a chance at a BCS bid.

Wasn't the decision to start Munchie also based on Kay's shoulder injury?

Tuberville gets a little leeway in my mind as this is his first year and he recruited very few of the upper classmen. The fact that some of his recruits started shows what he thinks of the existing starters and that we lost some talent after last year. I'm not making excuses - I want to win every game and losing to USF and Illinois really bothered me. The team showed improvement after those games though, went on a 6 game winning run and played even with UofL even though our QB played a horrible first quarter. We actually looked like the more complete team, with better Offensive and Defensive lines and a more well rounded core of WRs. I think we are in good hands but, if UC takes 6 weeks to find its legs next year, I will be disappointed.
