RE: Chris Peterson to Univ. of Washington
For one, Sarkisian laid a foundation at Washington making it a better job than before.

The whole quest for the MWC (and BCS status) for Boise State has been a bust. Boise State was the first school to join the MWC in the realignment shuffle and at the time it was advertised as a move to take their high ranking to a conference that was poised to earn an automatic BCS bid.

With the MWC losing Utah, BYU and TCU at that point Boise State tried to join the Big East as an attempt to salvage its BCS hopes. That also fell through as TV value plummeted following the departure of the men's basketball schools.

Boise with its tail tucked between its legs had to retreat to the MWC, an MWC that was no better than the WAC they left behind. The average Sagarin rating of the MWC of about 62.5 is the lowest in the history of the conference and would even be a bad year by WAC standards.

1. He knows the area and recruits it already so he doesn't have to establish his credentials or learn the ropes.

2. I think it's clear that Boise isn't making a P5 conference anytime soon and could be left behind if an upper tier is formed and is more exclusionary.

3. Unlike some of the other offers Washington combines the advantages of a P5 position without a fan base so rabid as to create job security issues over going 9 - 3. And with a special needs child that needs familiar surroundings and good spirited support that's important. I think the Washington job is perfect for him. They are serious about winning, have a history of it, but represent security to a consistent winner. I think this is a home run for the Huskies who need a coach who will stay committed long enough to their program to return it to prominence.

He's going to be viewed as a saint in Washington if he can field a consistent Top 15 program like he did in Boise. Its not a program where you have to win the PAC every year.

Huskie Stadium renovation helps things out tremendously. Gone is the awkward track configuration.
