You win the game, the spin will be it was against a bottom level P5 program. You lose the game, the spin will be "The AAC is not a upper level conference" so it was expected.

Point is, you're not going to get much recognition for beating a lower level P-5 program and if you lose it really is just going to cement the thoughts many have about the AAC and the G5 conferences in general.

If the AAC or any other G5 conference want to prove they belong in the group with the P-5, then beating the upper level P-5 schools in the regular season will have to start happening on a consistent basis.

WTF are you talking about. As rare as any for ANY non BCS schools to actually beat Bowl eligible BCS schools it's always important and a big deal. Marshall has beat 4 BCS schools in their entire history and only 2 had winning records for example.

The entire non BCS as a whole this year had 5 BCS wins over bowl eligible teams this year. Five with the best being an 8 win team, the rest were 6 and 7 win teams owned by BYU. BYU own's 2 of those 5 total and who isn't even your standard issue Non BCS team with 65k fans in the stands even when they have losing seasons. They are big time so basically you are talking about 3 wins for everyone else.

The point is beating winning BCS teams is where respect is earned. Most 6-6 BCS teams could compete or win CUSA many years and you could win CUSA and if you lose to a 6-6 or worse BCS teams like many of our champs have or never beat even 6 or 7 win ones, it just makes a cusa championship look like a joke. You earn the respect from the rest of the college football world by beating that level.

I would personally rather see a G5 playoff (if we're never given a real shot at the regular playoff) than play in some irrelevant bowl that essentially just serves as an advertisement for the sponsor.
I will never be excited about playing another G5 school (unless they're ranked) in a normal game, much less a bowl game.
