First Bilas Index
I can't disagree with what Bilas says here, and where he has us ranked. Also love the fact that Xavier is nowhere to be seen.

Quote:35. Cincinnati Bearcats

As expected, Cincinnati is long and athletic defensively, and the Bearcats do a good job of protecting the rim. But Cincinnati has allowed too many second shots and has not punished lesser opponents at the free throw line. Sean Kilpatrick is averaging 19.3 points per game, and Justin Jackson and Titus Rubles are both improved. Cincinnati can really defend, but Kilpatrick is the only true perimeter shooting threat.

It would be pretty hard to disagree with any of his comments. Spot on description of the team to this point in the season.

RE: First Bilas Index
Good analysis. They seem to be running more offense this year and getting better looks rather than just forcing threes as the clock expires. Still, other than Kilpatrick they struggle making shots right under the glass or outside the arc. I continue to watch teams from lesser conferences sub in those three point assassins. One scholarship seems reasonable for a designated set shooter. When those players get the call and knock two or three down consecutively it can break the game wide open. UC rarely gets that relief from the bench and may struggle to score against quality opponents.

The only thing I will quibble with Bilas about is SK being the only perimeter threat. I think Sanders and Davis also are. But neither are noticed because they are reserves (especially Davis, who seems to be down to a garbage-timer).

I think he means that if you can successfully shut down SK on the perimeter you can pretty much shut down UC's outside shooting. The Sandman was throwing up some bricks and airballs last game and I don't recall seeing SK and JDIII together on the court for any extended time all year.

Sanders' 3-point shooting % is woeful.

It's 40% this year but it's been bad in the past.

Sanders has a decent outside shot, but watching him shoot a basketball is like watching Munchie throw a pass. Sanders' shot takes forever, with this long windup behind his head. He has to be WIDE open to have enough time to get off his shot. If he is rushed, he misses.

They are threats, but not to make it.

The Sandman, I love it.
