Nothing really of note...Donte, Nate, Porras and Hodde were guests. Just talk about Tulane game and what they expect out of Marshall (i.e. good speed, Cato's prolific passing). Nate mentioned dominating at the point of attack was key, obviously. Nothing earth-shattering, but everyone seemed inspired by the opportunity to play for a title at home.

I like how much energy the team seems to have coming into this game.

Anyone know if Bailiff or the team has noticed what seems to be, the increase in tailgating/pregame activities before the game? From my point of view it seems like the athletic departments decision to start having all of the tailgaters congregate along the road up to the stadium is a great idea as it makes for a better atmosphere for the team to enter to.

when I looked at Jon Hodde and Nate last nite I saw some serious athletes - I mean big time, physically and mentally. These kids are the real deal; not undersized and immature like what was typical for us in years past. 04-cheers

Bailiff did mention also that we finally have arrived at the point as a team where we have some quality depth, so when someone inevitably gets hurt we don't have to reshuffle the whole line up to get replacements where they can best help us.

It is nice that we haven't been seeing a lot of "well, we lost but what do you expect when X starters are hurt" excuses on the board. And it doesn't appear to be because starters aren't getting hurt. Hell, our best rusher has only played about 8 total games.

So... we constantly complain about needing more exposure/marketing, but not when it interferes with your personal time with the team?

So who steps in for Petersen? I am thinking Dillard, maybe Eddington some.

Maybe we are making less excuses for losing because we are winning.

How about doing the radio show from/in association with the QB club?

This was done by parking without any input or direction from the athletic department. About 3 games ago so some Rice fans complained that all the spots on the road there near the stadium were always taken by people not, basically eliminating all the prime tailgating spots. Parking then decided to start putting cones there before the game, then opening the spots for people wanting to tailgate only.

Parking constantly hounds Rice fan's tailgates (and never an opposing fan's tailgate, but that is a rant for another time) for being in the wrong spot or thinking about tailgating in a parking spot, so this a good way to provide space that doesn't break their ever changing rules, and gives us a good spot to set up.

Nope-- JD tweeted yesterday from Bailiff's press conference that Luke Turner would be getting most of the snaps in Peterson's slot position.

Well this turned out to be a wonderful coincidence. The group of guys I tailgate with have commented on how much better of an atmosphere we have now that the tailgaters are in a concentrated area, and not spread out across the whole parking lot.

Hopefully the atmosphere only gets better and we start seeing an increase in student turn out.

I hope he can catch passes like Petersen. I know he can run. Maybe we will see a halfback pass?

He has proven he has a good arm. He threw that long TD pass against UH and almost have another one if it wasn't for good coverage against FAU (I think it was FAU).

I would love for us to use his arm a little more to keep defenses guessing.
