With the benefit of hindsight it was the right NC game. It simply proved that Alabama was the dramatically better team.

You missed a lot from behind the scenes of that NC game. Alabama wasn't dramatically better, but they WERE given an unfair second shot.

Call it all the same game and you have 9-6 and 0-21.

All up, the score that year was 9-27 in Alabama's favour.

Alabama was a much better team all around.

Jarrett Lee had the best QB and PE rating in the SEC, but didn't even get to play while our QB jester fumbled around and shat himself all night. 2/3rds of the plays we practiced for the NC game weren't even ran. Russell Sheppard had one ball tossed in his direction. Much of the starting O-line was benched.

I really hope nobody believes that THAT was the same team they played earlier, and the team that dominated all year long. There is definitely a reason that LSU lost 21-0 and made it past the 50 y/l once, but it wasn't because of Alabama's dominate defense.

That is bull. How can you say that? Oklahoma State had better wins than Bama did and all the bowls did was add a very good Stanford team to that.

OSU deserved it more than Bama did IMO. Bama won, but their resume didn't merit it over OSU IMO.

I call that bull.

Oklahoma lost to Iowa State. Case closed.

You lost at home.

OSU lost on a questionable field goal on the road.

Penn State was trash in 2011- ask Houston- and it was one of Bama's main wins. Arkansas was the only other one.

OkState had a better resume, even with the loss.

Bama had their shot at LSU, OSU didn't. Bama did not deserve a mulligan.

You can't lose to a perennial bottom dweller and claim you should play for a title, especially not the bottom dweller of a crappy conference.

Knowing what we know now, it was the right choice. Alabama took LSU apart.

Who did you beat? Arkansas? They were good but OSU had wins over two teams that were comparable (A&M and KSU) and also had wins over Baylor, Texas, and OU.

Penn State was a joke with a bad schedule. NOBODY else was a strong regular season win.

The Big 12 in 2011 was every bit as good as the SEC and OSU's league slate was tougher than Bama's. Ole Miss, Vandy, Auburn, UF, Tennessee, and MSU all were average at best in 2011 and comprised every meaningful opponent other than LSU, PSU, and Arky.

OSU beat far more bowl teams, beat more impressive teams, and Bama already had their shot and failed.

Well it almost happened... Except FSU won, and thank God... We now see that even though MSU beat the 24 win streak Buckeyes, they still wouldn't have moved past Alabama. But Alabama's best ranked win came against #16, #13 at the time of the game. MSU's was against #7, #2 at the time of the game.

2 things-
1- Alabama's loss much better- #2 Auburn vs NR Notre Dame
2- Alabama's 2nd best win much better- #21 Texas A&M vs NR Minnesota

that would have been enough by far to move Alabama into the title game over MSU.

tOSU and FSU would depend on how they lost IMO. Boatracing everyone else would probably count for something.
P12 would all have two losses, eliminated.

It would come down to the following other than Bama to potentially slip in there: (ranked in order of likelihood)

FSU (Close loss)
tOSU (Close loss)
Bama
Baylor
FSU (blowout)
tOSU (blowout)

Brad Edwards has already come out and said Bama is in the game, so this is wrong. Brad Edwards has been wrong before, but it makes sense. The voters would put Bama in the game. It's really that simple.

Alabama didn't deserve to be there in 2011, but went, and if not for tOSU sanctions, they wouldn't have been in last year, so this whole ordeal of "three peating" just drives me crazy. Then they all come out saying "You can hate all you want but until you have a history like ours, you have no room to talk."

Yeah, sure. Like those guys were ever saying that pre-2008, when the only Alabama fans resided in Tuscaloosa. I'd probably lose sleep if they went a third, undeserved time. Unless they lost.

If FSU and OSU lose, then Bama deserves to be in the game IMO. KSU and Oregon had every opportunity to play in the title game, and they couldn't seal the deal last year. Ohio St was ineligible so nobody gave a **** about Buckeye fans whining.

Just go out there and win your CCG's, and this conversation is moot.

The same logic would have applied to Alabama in 2011 and 2013. They knew what the big game was and lost each year.

This ^^^

I understand that Alabama may have been the second best team in 2011, but you can't just keep throwing them at the number 1 team until they win. Give someone else a chance.

And it was VERY unfair to LSU to have to beat the same team twice. Especially after already beating the BE champ WVU and Pac 12 champ Oregon.
