how many more CFB games can be added to a season?
as it stands now-
12 regular season
+1 for playing hawaii
+1 ccg
+1 bowl game
under most circumstances its 12-13, a few teams play 14, and in a very rare case theres the potential to play 15 games
if the conferences wanted to add to their conference schedule or add a playoff (for more money) without taking away all their ooc spots......
how many extra games could they get away with before breaking the system as it stands now?

I wish we had 14 so every conference would be required to play five OOC games.

I think there is enough room to make the season a 14 game slate. Now with the bowls and of course the Hawaii game the is potential of 16 games, but you have to remember the new CFP is going to add a game to the schedule as well. So there you are up to 17 games and IMO that is probably to many for these kids. So I would probably say with everything max there shouldn't be no more than 16 games played period.

Lower divisions don't have a problem with playoffs adding games to the season.

I think that you can add one more round to the playoffs (8-team playoff) and still keep it within the realm of reasonability.
Note that there's no way that the power conferences would ever agree to reduce the regular season schedule in order to add playoff games, so that realistically limits any further playoff expansion to one more round (and even that's likely a long way down the road).

Especially with the new format they have for FCS. A team or two could end up playing 16 or 17 games(if from 1st round) if they make it the championship game.

If I ruled the world:
1 exhibition game (FBS vs FCS) that does not count towards standings and must be played before September 1st
4 non-conference games (must be FBS vs FBS)
8 conference games (don't like the lack of balance that comes with 9, but I suppose conferences that insist on 9 games would lose an OOC game)
1 Conference Championship Game
1 Bowl game for teams with 6+ FBS wins
Then I'd include an 8-team playoff.
That would add up to a 13-15 game season for teams that don't make the playoffs and as many as two teams could play a possible 17 games.

FCS has a 24-team playoff bracket starting this year -- see the bracket here. Note that the first round of FCS playoffs was last Saturday, November 30, and the title game is on January 4.
FBS could have an 8-team bracket easily without changing the current regular-season schedule. If there is ever a 16-team FBS tournament, the best way to accommodate it would be to start the regular season a week earlier and hold conference title games on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

RE: how many more CFB games can be added to a season?
I'd like to see:
13-game regular season (with a rule that no more than 7 can be home games)
1 conference championship game, teams selection process to be determined by the conference (not the NCAA)
8-team playoff (3 rounds).
eliminate the "Hawaii Rule". The max. 7 home/6 away rule will take care of this.

RE: how many more CFB games can be added to a season?
At some point, the CCG needs to be eliminated if the playoffs keep expanding.
Worst case scenerio is 16-team playoff and keep the CCG.
So under this plan you could play 12 games + CCG + 4 playoff games + hawaii = 18 games.
But lets just say the odds of playing in Hawaii and making the NCG in the same season are extremely rare, so lets just say if would hardly ever go over 17 games and that would only be 2 teams a year.

RE: how many more CFB games can be added to a season?
I don't see why you would want to add more games anyway. Half the schools ooc schedule consists of warmup games. My sweet spot would be 7 conference games and 3 ooc games.
That is a good point frank. Curious if the playoff does well and the money being paid through the playoff increases do you see this changing?
