Quote:Does this mean UCF could pass NIU next week?
For all practical purposes... Impossible (if both win to any margin of victory). NIU plays #37 (9-3) Bowling Green, and UCF Plays #87 (5-6) SMU.
UCF jumped up because 3 teams just ahead of them BUT below NIU ... Lost (Texas A&M, Wisconsin, and Fresno).
UCF did not gain any Real ground on NIU. Nothing to worry about.
3 Slots:
Computer: NIU is over UCF in the computers -- and the NIU win VS UCF win next week can only WIDEN NIU's lead over UCF.
Coaches Poll: UCF over NIU by 1 slot. No teams can wedge in between to widen UCF's gap there. Duke beating FSU would put Duke over both. So UCF will just be 1 slot over NIU no matter what.
Harris Poll: NIU is over UCF by two spots. If Oklahoma & Louisville lose, it can bring UCF closer here. But the concept is # of votes. So even though they will be, NIU will still have a decent gap of votes so it will be minimal.
There is NO way, if NIU wins, that UCF can go over NIU in the BCS Bowls. Like ZERO way. :)
