Week 15 poll watch
NIU moved up to #2 in the Sagarins. Doesn't mean much since it will get thrown out, but a good sign that NIU might actually gain some more points in the computers despite taking a SoS hit from playing WMU.

They also jumped two spots to #16 and gained 126 votes in the AP poll. Also doesn't count, but is a good indicator of the other human polls.

As a side note, Fresno fell 8 spots to #24. UCF also rose two spots, to #15. Apparently, it doesn't matter if you struggle, as long as you win. Unless you're a non-AQ team. Then it's held against you.

RE: Week 15 poll watch
In the Coaches Poll, NIU moved up from #20 to #18, and gained 88 votes. Mostly seems to be an effect of teams around them falling.

I think NIU moves up to #13 in the BCS and should be safely in a BCS bowl with a victory in the MACC game over BG

RE: Week 15 poll watch
Gary Smits still has a one-loss Fresno ahead of us.

http://collegefootball.ap.org/poll-voter/gary-smits

And then he has the nerve to say Fresno would still beat us easily because its easy to scheme against Lynch. He brings up a top 5 defense in Florida St and the 9th ranked Iowa defense as his justification but failed to mention Lynch threw for nearly 300 yards and 3 TDs against Iowa yet somehow Fresno's 100th ranked defense that just gave up 62 points to SJSU (who was averaging 30ppg prior to the game) would stop Lynch.

NIU has only played 4 schools with winning records one of which was Eastern Illinois. The win over Iowa and Ball St were solid wins but the rest of the wins were over some very poor teams. Idaho, Purdue, UMass, WMU combined won 4 games all four finishing 1 & 11. Kent St was 4 & 8, Akron 5 & 7, East Mich 2 & 10. So does NIU really deserve a BCS bid? UCF should be ahead of NIU

Latest Harris Poll has NIU ranked #15 with 1,104 votes

Previous Harris Poll had NIU ranked #17 with 936 votes.

An increase of 168 votes.

We increased our lead over UCF by 56 votes from the previous week.

UCF has as many wins over 1-A teams with winning records as NIU does - 3. No doubt Eastern Illinois would smoke Temple, USF, UConn, FIU, and Memphis. Probably Rutgers too.

Joe Gottfried put Ball State #24 in his Harris Poll. Looks like some other Harris Poll voters also had BSU on their ballot.

Really?

Based on what? If you want to tear down NIU's schedule? Take an look back at UCF's. Other than South Carolina and Louisville(at the time), that is an marginal schedule at best.

Sorry, but UCF need a ton of help to move ahead of NIU.

You are right about Missouri my bad. But I still can get over NIU being rated over Oklahoma, UCLA, Louisville, Texas A & M, Texas and Georgia by the way I am a SEC fan.
UCF lost to SEC east division champ South Carolina by 3. Only opponent both teams played was Akron. UCF beat Akron 38 to 7 NIU beat them 27 to 20. Every team on UCF schedule won at least 2 or more games. Enough said.

Just a nitpick, but South Carolina is not the SEC East champ...

Also, Akron was a MUCH improved team by the time NIU played them.

In the universe where geography makes sense and no one is allowed to consider Missouri an Eastern state?

I was thinking the same thing axeme. Sounds like an very delusional AAC fan that thinks that they(the conference) are way better than what they are.

I think that's redundant.

Well to be fair, they didn't have much of a choice with that one. A&M was the first of the two to go to the SEC, if they wanted Mizzou to go to the West then they would've had to split up Auburn and Alabama.

Penn State is at least equal to Iowa, which is by far NIU's best win of the season. But then on top of that, we also beat a Top 10 UL team on the road and our lone loss is to a now Top 10 USC team. And that was by 3.

And we beat a then 7-1 Houston team who is now 8-4.

UCF is 1-1 agaisnt Top 10 teams. NIU hasn't played or beaten a Top 25 team.

There's the difference.
There's the difference.

There's the difference.

First - Penn St. is not an equal win to Iowa. Penn St. is 7-5 (4-4), while Iowa is 8-4 (5-3). So Iowa is better than Penn St.

NIU also beat a then 9-1 Ball St team, who is now 10-2.

And UCF was very, very lucky to beat a 1 win Temple team, and a 2 win USF team.
