Ohio State ranked No. 2 in coaches poll, with 25-point lead on No. 3 Auburn
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State received four first-place votes and was ranked No. 2 in Sunday's coaches poll, with a 25-point lead on No. 3 Auburn. The Tigers did not get any first-place votes in the coaches poll.
In Sunday's AP poll, Ohio State had a 31-point lead over Auburn, which also got two first-place votes, while the Buckeyes received none.
With Alabama's loss to Auburn, Florida State is the new No. 1 team in both polls.
In the coaches poll, Ohio State was second with 1,462 points, while Auburn was third with 1,437. Alabama dropped to No. 4.
In the AP poll, Ohio State was second with 1,418 points, and Auburn was third with 1,387 points. Alabama also dropped to No. 4.
Ohio State was No. 3 in the BCS standings and in all three polls last week. Auburn was No. 4 in the BCS and AP poll, and No. 5 in the coaches poll and Harris poll.
The coaches poll and Harris poll each account for one-third of the BCS standings, while the AP poll is for entertainment purposes only. Six computer rankings make up the other third of the BCS.
Ohio State plays Michigan State on Saturday night in the Big Ten title game. The 11-1 Spartans are ranked No. 9 in the coaches poll and No. 10 in the AP poll.
Auburn plays Missouri on Saturday afternoon in the SEC title game. And 11-1 Missouri is ranked No. 5 in the AP poll and the coaches poll.
Last week, Ohio State had an 81-point lead on Auburn in the 60-voter AP poll, 1,375 to 1,294.
In the coaches poll, Ohio State's lead over Auburn last week was 160 points in the 62-voter poll, 1,428 to 1,268.
In the Harris poll, Ohio State's lead over Auburn last week was 250 points in the 104-voter poll, 2,389 to 2,139.
