COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State received four first-place votes and was ranked No. 2 in Sunday's coaches poll, with a 25-point lead on No. 3 Auburn. The Tigers did not get any first-place votes in the coaches poll.

In Sunday's AP poll, Ohio State had a 31-point lead over Auburn, which also got two first-place votes, while the Buckeyes received none.

With Alabama's loss to Auburn, Florida State is the new No. 1 team in both polls.

In the coaches poll, Ohio State was second with 1,462 points, while Auburn was third with 1,437. Alabama dropped to No. 4.

In the AP poll, Ohio State was second with 1,418 points, and Auburn was third with 1,387 points. Alabama also dropped to No. 4.

Ohio State plays Michigan State on Saturday night in the Big Ten title game. The 11-1 Spartans are ranked No. 9 in the coaches poll and No. 10 in the AP poll.

Auburn plays Missouri on Saturday afternoon in the SEC title game. And 11-1 Missouri is ranked No. 5 in the AP poll and the coaches poll.

Last week, Ohio State had an 81-point lead on Auburn in the 60-voter AP poll, 1,375 to 1,294.

In the coaches poll, Ohio State's lead over Auburn last week was 160 points in the 62-voter poll, 1,428 to 1,268.

In the Harris poll, Ohio State's lead over Auburn last week was 250 points in the 104-voter poll, 2,389 to 2,139.

Thanks CTip. UC moves up and the battle for #2 in the BCS is super tight.

I don't care if OSU is #2, but if they get to that spot because they are undefeated, than it is an absolute crime that N.Illinois is not even in the top 15. How many voters would actually pick OSU over Auburn or Bama?

Who has Northern Illinois actually played? Nobody I can think of.

I didn't think a one loss team would pass OSU, surprised how slim the margins are. Assuming OSU and Auburn win OSU is going to want to win convincingly.

Based on Palm's BCS projection (he's usually pretty accurate) if OSU beats MSU (#10) and Auburn beats Mizzou (#5) Auburn will leapfrog OSU in the final BCS because beating Mizzou will carry more weight and as of right now they are less than 3 thousandths apart almost a statistical tie. If Auburn loses to Mizzou then it will be OSU in the NC.

It's looking almost like a coin flip at this point. Really close if both win.

I want to see Duke, MSU, and Auburn win their conference title games so we can get a rematch of the Iron Bowl in the title game. The prospect of Saban being harassed by the media for a month over his coaching decisions in the Iron Bowl is too good to pass up.

Plus, screw the ACC, Big XII, and little ten.

Auburn beating Mizzou, and jumping O$U, would bring me great joy for the holiday season.

I'm not sure what would be more fun…to watch OSU get 'this close' to the title game and not get to go OR to watch them get clobbered on national tv against a real team in the title game…..again

Statistically Auburn should jump over OSU to #2 as only .003 separates Auburn and OSU right now in Jerry Palm's BCS projection as of this morning. A win over Mizzou is worth more than a win over Sparty so the .003 would be pretty easily overcome.

The 3 weeks of gloating of "we are in the national championship game" would be unbearable.

I'd love to see them win and still get jumped by auburn. Sorry OSU you play in an much inferior conference than the SEC . It only gets better when the b1g adds Maryland and Rutgers

Even if they make it, no worries, they'll still lose. Yes FSU has played a similar crappy schedule to Columbus State, but they destroyed those teams in the process. O$U has struggled with every descent team they've played this year.
