BCS Analysis- week 7
Just saw AP poll is out. While I know it's not in the BCS- the numbers if it plays out in other polls aren't good for Ohio St

Ohio St 1418
Auburn 1387

31 vote difference. 60 voters- so about 15 voters have Auburn ahead of Ohio St. That gap would mean that if it's the same in coaches and Harris- if Auburn just is 1 cpu spot ahead, it'd come down to 1-2 votes.

RE: BCS Analysis- week 7
Coaches (or whomever is voting their ballots) have it OSU 1462, Auburn 1437. They also have Alabama ahead of Mizzou, so it's very possible Bama will be #4 and Mizzou #5 in BCS standings.

Wow. Since Auburn is likely to be ahead of OSU in the computer polls, this could get interesting.

But Auburn really can't concentrate on the polls, they'd better concentrate on Mizzou. Mizzou is legit and has a real shot at a NCG berth too if they beat Auburn.

I don't know that I expected the polls to be this close.

It'll be interesting to see how Ohio St and Auburn handle the pressure this week.. I tell you who I think is sitting pretty is Missouri....

wow- Palm just updated his projection... If his numbers are right- except Auburn gets 1 more cpu spot or Ohio St loses 1 more cpu spot, Auburn could be #2 tonight when the release happens....

Mizzou could beat Auburn. But even if they do, they probably cannot pass OSU unless OSU loses. Mizzou does not have a win over Alabama. Auburn, if they win the SEC, will have 2 top 10 victories and 4 wins versus the top 25

That's not what I meant. If they win, they only need Mich St to win. They have none of the pressure that Auburn and Ohio St have. None.

What's surprising to me is that the coaches is closer than the AP. Coaches are more respectful of what it takes to go unbeaten. I wonder if some of the SEC coaches have it 1. Auburn, 2. Alabama, 3. Missouri, 4. FSU, 5. South Carolina, 6. LSU, 7. Ohio St.

for one- it's 2 fewer voters in coaches than in AP- but still assuming those both vote OSU ahead of Auburn- still 4 votes closer....

who are the Big Ten voters? I think that's probably your answer.

Looking at last week's polls, its actually possible Ohio St. increases its computer lead on Auburn. If they pass Alabama, but Auburn doesn't they increase their lead. All depends on the various computer formulas.

I counted the roster and it appears there are 7 coaches either currently in the B1G or about to be (Rutgers) that have a vote.

um, no. Last week it was Ohio St .92- Auburn .83. Auburn won't be 9 spots behind Ohio St in the computers this week- you can take that to the bank..... That's just stupid talk quite frankly.

we know 2 computers right now...
Colley-
last week- Ohio St 3 Auburn 4
this week- Auburn 1 Ohio St 2
Sagarin-
Last week- Ohio St 4 Auburn 8
this week- Ohio St 3 Auburn 6(this is by far Auburn's worst computer)

so just these 2 cpu-
Ohio St- last week 3.5 this week 2.5
Auburn last week 6 this week 3.5

the Palm projection has Auburn 1,2,2,3 in the other 4 computers.
Ohio St 1,3,3,3 in the other 4 computers

Margin in Harris is 66 votes. OSU a bit stronger there than with the coaches poll....

It's gonna be really close. If Auburn is 1 cpu spot stronger than what Palm projects- could be the closest BCS release ever...

It means Ohio St. averaged #3 last week and Auburn averaged #5.

Palm may well be right. But its simple math to show that if Ohio St. moves to #1 or #2 and Auburn moves to #4 still behind Alabama, Ohio St.'s margin increases. I find it pretty amazing that you can't comprehend that. You are usually pretty perceptive. As I said, it all depends on how the formulas work. Ohio St. beat a good team. Auburn beat a better team. Neither beat a Chattanooga so there shouldn't be a massive relative move unless they were very close before or unless the programs give big bonuses for beating a team like Alabama. Other than one program, no one knows how they work. A second, Sagarin, people have some idea about. The rest are black boxes.

Except that Ohio St isn't projected to move to #1-still supposed to be FSU... Where the movement for Auburn will come is that they will pick up slots from teams like Clemson that lost.

Auburn was ranked behind Clemson in only 1 computer poll. No other team ranked above them in any of the computer polls lost (except of course Alabama).
