Too bad. The MAC has hardly been immune to this sort of behavior so we aren't holding any high moral ground here.

The difference is this crap is not systematic at most MAC schools (none that I can think of) Sure a team might go south but usually that coach is not around too long and it stops.

With Marshall it seems to be every other year something like this is happening.

The difference is in how the respective schools handle these kind of situations....we had a WR (Nick Harwell) at Miami that was arguably our best player..when he got in trouble with the law he was kicked off the team. Maybe Marshall will give this kid some stiff punishment...I think he's been in trouble before if I'm not mistaken.

he's a Marshall football player. I think that's a safe assumption to make! LOL

Some of you may recall that I lurk around the MAC board, and make an occasional post, because I truly am a fan of the MAC and enjoyed our time there. But I feel I need to rise in defense of Marshall here.

I won't respond to the general statements on Marshall football players, but the fact that Grooms is being suspended indefinitely and missing play in the Conference Championship Game and Bowl game is a serious reaction to a serious charge. I think our administration acted very appropriately, as would have any MAC institution in the same situation. (Plus, Grooms didn't play in the ECU game, one down, even though eligible. He's been on Holliday's s-list, quite a bit.)

Plus MAC fans, particularly Ohio fans, should like Grooms. He's the guy who fumbled the ball in the endzone to give Ohio and easy touchdown!
