Any games NIU (MAC) fans should cheer Sat. Night?
Does NIU have a chance to make the 'automatic' bid by finishing in the top 12 of the BCS standings if teams like Wisconsin and others fall?

Are we afraid UCF could make top 16 which would mean NIU would need to make top 12 to get a BCS bid?

Could UCF leapfrong some dying horses, I mean, falling teams?

Do we need a loss by S. Carolina or Arizona State to get NIU into the top 12, esp. as Ore might drop a few notches.

Were we premature last night in declaring NIU in by simply winning the MACC?

Wisconsin already fell.

It doesn't matter if UCF is in the top 16 as long as NIU is ahead of them.

UCF won't leapfrog anyone with their pathetic effort last night.

No. But an ASU loss would be nice.

Maybe.

The AAC has an AQ spot so UCF would go BCS regardless of their ranking.

But if they finished outside of 16 all NIU has to do is finish 16 or better. If they finsih ranked 16 then even a #13 NIU could be left out..

Right but NIU has to be in the top 16 and UCF has to be BEHIND NIU in order for us to go(unless we are in the top 12-which likely won't happen).

Are you sure that is correct? I didn't think it mattered if UCF ended up 16 as long as we were ahead at say 14.

From what I know, as long as NIU is above 16 and ahead of UCF, they're good to go. Being top 12 just ensures that they'll go to the BCS no matter what. Given how UCF has played recently, I doubt they move up much; even if they did, they'll be idle while NIU has the chance to get a good win against BG. It's too bad the Falcons couldn't upset Mississippi State, they would've knocked them out of a bowl while bumping up their SOS (and NIU's as a result) in the process.

I believe the way it works for non AQ's is this

12 and up you're in
13-16 you are in so long as there is an AQ champ ranked outside of 16.

I could be wrong...

Rooting for NIU all the way. John Bond has been shown the door. The sad part is we were play him 75k as OC and Allen Suber WR 55k.

And I as well. So long as NIU wins they shouldn't worry about UCF making any move with enough significance to matter.

With UCF struggling vs USF, and NIU having the edge in both the computers and polls, I doubt they are a threat going into the final week.

Yep, but would've felt better had they lost.

Unless the voters totally f*ck the MAC more then they were normally doing for us vs the mwc, NIU should be OK as long as they win of course. Hopefully this will at least shut up all of the UCF posters claiming they are better then the MAC, clearly not, they can barely beat bottom teams in the AAC.

I think i remember you, or one of the other UMass fans, asking NIU fans our opinion of John Bond. I think we all agreed that he was not a good OC and we were glad to see him go.

NIU just needs to finish ahead of UCF and stay in the top 16.

http://www.bcsfootball.org/news/story?id=4819597

3. The champion of Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, or the Sun Belt Conference (hereinafter "non-AQ group") will earn an automatic berth in a BCS bowl game if either:

A. Such team is ranked in the top 12 of the final BCS Standings, or

B. Such team is ranked in the top 16 of the final BCS Standings and its ranking in the final BCS Standings is higher than that of a champion of a conference that has an annual automatic berth in one of the BCS bowls.
