RE: Rice vs. Santa Clara (MBB) in Cable Car Classic
and it gets worse as down 1 SC steals the inbound pass with 10 sec to and lays it in to go up by 1 with just 6.9 left. Rice went over 10 minutes without a FG in the second half.

Rice basketball has second half offensive problems also--almost 10 minutes without a basket

Wow just Wow...Washington takes the ball the length of the court and lays it in for Owls to lead by one...checking to see if there is anytime left...and there is .3 seconds on clock.

What the hey is going on? Braun is walking around on the court. And one of the teams still has a timeout?

One last play for Santa Clara--can only be a tip in.
And . . . no good.

And the refs meet for a while before deciding game over...great job overcoming some poor shooting in the second half and some less than good play down the stretch to put us in that situation but like at HRS a win is a win.

Good win! Thought we had given one away there at the end, but good job by Washington of being aggressive.

What a crazy ending, but we pull out a close one even with awful shooting in the second half. This is the kind of learning experience this team needs - the kind where we win! Way to go Owls!

A good win on the road. This team is improving daily. No world beaters, but definitely better than many of us expected.

Interesting note on the post-game show. The announcer asked Washington about shooting his layup righthanded. Keith said he grew up as a righty, but his brother tied his right arm behind his back and made him learn to shoot lefthanded. So he's pretty good using either hand. I've noticed he goes to his right quite a lot for a lefty.

I still can't figure out why we never saw this sort of fight and determination in Braun's teams with greater talent. Was it a different approach, or are the players now more receptive?
I am also starting to wonder if Marcos may have been THAT corrosive to this team.

If you saw any games last year we had plenty of fight. We had no talent, yet played games close against much better teams. Actually we played better Friday night than last night, but played a hot Rider team and got no calls. Against Princeton they passed the ball a lot to get open shots and we dribbled a lot. This weekend we passed much better and went inside a lot last night. Obi is a force inside but has trouble defensively against more athletic players.

Didn't Marcos leave before last season?
The reason I said we didn't have this fight with teams with greater talent was because I wasn't talking about last year, when we were definitely less talented, but still had plenty of tenacity.
