RE: Another coach I would interview...
UAB, like every other school, can fire any coach it wants to fire and can afford to fire any time it wants. Now that the season is practically over, UAB can hire a new coach at its pleasure and within its (tight) budget. The agents for various coaches will be glad to talk to our AD about what UAB has to offer their clients and to answer their questions about the turnover rate in our FB program since Watson Brown left - and their records. They will quickly get around to asking about assistant coaching salaries and how much freedom their client will have in bringing in his own "people".

Those agents will also want to know what plans UAB has for IMMEDIATE improvement of its widely known to be deficient facilities (Was UAB's injury rate - we seemed to have had a lot - any worse than what the average was for all C-USA teams?). "And what is this talk that UAB can't even go to the bathroom without a BOT Hall Pass? The whole process could get somewhat tricky for our AD.

I'll take him.

We have so many options in Alabama alone. There's no reason to do a national search.

LOL...JSU is the more attractive job.

Except for the paycheck. But yeah he'll probably be coaching there at the FBS level when they move up to the Sun Belt. The job will grow with him.

He's already got JSU into the playoffs first yr so I'm sure he's on a FBS list already so time to snatch up while getting's good by being proactive not reactive. I'd be nice to offer it to him as well as giving public notice of facility improvements ie field house etc not necessarily ocs.

Jacksonville has VERY nice facilities, and has it's own board. $550,000 vs $175,000 is a pretty big jump though.

Not for what appears to be a career-halting environment. 03-banghead

Good point. Clark was very popular as a high school coach on this state..........great guy too. $175,000 in a laid back small town is a pretty nice gig though.

I have a couple classes with Bill Clark's daughter here at UA. That's off topic, but I would be fine with hiring Bill Clark. However, others have posted what I feel as he would rather be there especially if they're moving up to FBS

Clark inherited a program that was already well grounded in regard to infrastructure and personnel. Why would he be tempted to move to a limited program that is deficient in both?

IMHO, If UAB is going to announce actually building improved facilities right away, it would seem appropriate to complete them before replacing their present coaches. It would be like announcing to the public "We are going to install engines on the airplane right after we fire you for not getting the plane off the ground".

Heh, if I'm coaching at a program nobody cares about, I might as well make three times as much in a city where I can get a pizza after 9pm.
