Brady Hoke. Seriously, when OSU got hammered, a bunch of their top recruits changed their commits to Michigan. Many of those guys played this year. That Michigan team was as talented as the OSU team.

The difference in record reflects the differences between Urban and Brady.

Muschamp, hands down.

Honorable mention to Fedora, Hoke, and Pelini.

I think one thing between Michigan and Ohio St-
Michigan- conference opponents- 61-32 overall. Avoided Wisconsin, Indiana, Purdue
Ohio St- conference opponents- 43-47 overall. Avoided Mich St, Nebraska, Minnesota

That's a HUGE difference.

at least next year- those 2 teams will have a LOT closer schedules being in the same division(thank goodness!)

My bad, Muschamp gets my vote too. Pelini is no where near Hoke though. Nebraska finished 8-4, Michigan 7-5 and Michigan had a much more talented squad. I guess Fedora deserves to be there with Hoke. I am sure this will be another NFL draft with a strong showing of North Carolina guys in it, yet Duke beat them at home to finish the year.

Pelini maybe more than Hoke...

look at the crossovers:
Nebraska: Illinois, Purdue, Penn St
Michigan: Indiana, Ohio St, Penn St

really all the difference there is Michigan vs Ohio St while Nebraska played Purdue.

I agree, Nebraska had the easier schedule BUT Michigan had the better players and that is what this thread is about. Hoke should have been able to take Michigan to the Championship game. Nebraska ended up right about where I figured they would. Nebraska also lost their starting quarterback.

I saw all the empty seats in the FSU-UF game. That says a lot.

Yeah, Foley will use all the injuries as an excuse but Florida was bad when they were healthy.

Quote: Pelini is no where near Hoke though. Nebraska finished 8-4, Michigan 7-5 and Michigan had a much more talented squad.

When I have seen Michigan play this year it is obvious they have a few missing pieces. Gardner only looks good when compared to who he replaced. Their running backs are pedestrian, and while Gallon is good at WR there are a number of BCS teams (Clemson and FSU for certain) where he wouldn't start. It's obvious there are still holes in the roster going from RichRod's scheme to what Hoke wants to run. Considering this is just year three that is understandable.

Pelini's players are all his own. He's been there since 2008 so he shouldn't have any roster holes. The Nebraska games I have seen this year have shown me a team that much like it's coach lacks discipline, and simply doesn't play anywhere close to it's level of talent. They almost lost to Wyoming. They gave up an 18 point lead by allowing UCLA to score 38 straight to lose. Nebraska's record this year is an aberration, if matched up with a halfway decent opponent in a bowl they will likely get housed.

Fedora is a fraud. He got that job based solely on upsetting Houston in the CUSA championship game. Now look at USM. The past two years all the upperclassmen on the roster were his and they have won 1 game in two years, ironically beating UAB...a team Fedora has a losing record against.

Muschamp and Kiffin are the only true contenders.

If that's the case, then it's Kiffin by a landslide.

Kiffin turned a preseason #1 into trash last season. A team with enough schollies on the roster to be preseason #1.

Muschamp's team was ugly to watch, yet healthy and won 11 games last season. This year? Oh, well, a dozen or so players injured doesn't help. Kiffin didn't have that to deal with.

I'm pretty sure the thread title contains the phrase " this year".

Carry on.
