RE: student attendance
2900 for football. That's a sell out for students and we do that 4x a year. Usually 1k to 2k for basketball. But this year that could change.

Marshall has about 10k undergrad, and warm afternoon games we get around 6-7k.

Noon games about 3k

This ECU game we'll probably only have 1 or 2k if that unfortunately.

Been covering UTSA athletics since 2008.

It's a sensitive subject to some in RunnerNation, but the students have not turned out as needed for football this year. The homecoming game was dreadful. There weren't more than 500 students there. Off the record, at least 3 coaches have mentioned it to us.

Student enrollment is just over 30k.

Basketball doesn't fair better. Especially if the team is not doing well. If the band is in attendance, they sort of supplement for the absence in the student section.

Irish Rowdy and a few others are DIE-HARDS, they're at every basketball game. Unfortuntaley, they're in the small minority. On average, I'd say for bball, between 200-300 students.

Tech has a large student turnout for football. I'd bet that usually its around 7k to 9k for a 11k undergrad university. Tech football really has become a social event for Saturdays. And baskeball is also picking up with probably around 1500 to 2000 for in school games this season.

500?

I would say about 2500 sit in the student section. I don't know how many are students, since the students are allowed to purchase a guest ticket for $12 bucks, I believe.

I should have clarified, the above is for bball

For football, I sit on the opposite side of the stadium, so I can't really say what the attendance is, but if I had to guess, I would say that there is about 4k

I think your right on football but might be a little high BB. This year I hope we see the your numbers for BB since we have a fun team to watch.

I think UNT has the highest or second highest enrollment in conference at 36,000.

FB Attendance wise this season: 6-12k depending upon day, hype, weather, game time. Still like 1k that stay outside tailgating which is annoying as hell.

BB typically sees 100-200 students unless it's a big name opponent like Texas Tech a few years ago... There was a near sell out at that one and a storming of the court after a surprise win.

For reference, Apogee Stadium seats 30,500 and the Super Pit is just over 8,000 seated.

A whole dissertation can be written on the different factors that influence turnout for anything around here. While people love that Denton sits atop a gold mine of constant entertainment within town and the DFW metroplex, it tends to detract from one single or two sport focus like programs out in the middle of nowhere do.

you would know better than i would, but i think your numbers are off. I have seen pictures where there wasn't 12k total at the game, and 12k would be above 50% avg attendance

RE: student attendance
This is interesting to read. A segment of our fans are lamenting us students for not showing up, although we have showed up well all season long. WKU has around 16k undergrads that attend the bowling green campuses and live on or near campus. Of this we typically pull I think about 6000 to 6500. I think we eclipsed the record last season and this season at 7 or 8k something. This year will be exceptionally high due to a huge turnout against UK and only 1 november game at 3-4k. We also took a huge contingent to Detroit last year for the bowl. The trip was all inclusive for $50 for students.

For basketball we start out with about 2-300 at each game. If their is a big name, or if the team is good come end of January on we will pull in 1-2k every night. Culminates in a sold out crowd for the muts at seasons end.

No, I'm fully cognoscente when it comes to the differences between reported totals and actual turnouts and am rolling with the latter. Last week's game and the Ball St matchup saw our lowest student turnouts at 6500 last week and 6000 in week 3.

6K was the UTSA game which was our lowest, from the ticket office. For Homecoming, we had nearly 14,000 students. For Rice about 12,000.

So it really depends, they're flaky but 6,000 minimum is great compared to most CUSA schools. I'd say we averaged 10K this year.

We have a very weak alumni base and little to no fan turnout. It's usually half students half alumni.

Our student section is directly on top of the visiting bench and that's a major factor in our excellent home record which through 3 seasons is 12-6.

I've said this before and I will again, I'd rather 6K students in a poor turnout in a 17K turnout then 30K turnout with a bunch of T-shirt fans who don't know when to cheer. I love that half out turnout is students. That's why a half full Apogee is one of the loudest CUSA stadiums.

We sold out our student section twice this year which is the visitor side minus the away allotment. Our attendance is weak but not students.
