I suspect NIU will pick up at least two spots in the human polls..
Iowa's win helps as well ~ their biggest win now stands as a victory over an 8-4 P5 conference school, and indeed Iowa's only losses are #3 undefeated Ohio State, #24, 2nd in the Big Ten "East" Wisconsin, and 1st in the Big Ten "West" Michigan State ... and Northern Illinois.

Indeed, even if the Big Ten is clearly in a down year, Big Ten connected voters have got to treat a school that beat the 2nd place school in a Big Ten division as if they are the real deal.

NIU just has to beat BGSU and they are in. Should be a big crowd as BGSU short drive and NIU has a chance to celebrate MAC title and BCS bowl bid.

Indeed. NIU's fan base has stepped up their game this year, and now that a BCS bid is virtually guaranteed with a win they'll probably bring a good number. BG probably brings the best crowd of any MAC East team this year, their proximity helps. Might not be quite the biggest crowd we've played at Ford Field (25,483 for CMU vs. OU in 2006), but should be pretty close. Would help a lot to shrink our 'bush league' label to have a great game in front of a good crowd at an NFL facility.

RE: Fresno State falls
I can't make the MAC Championship since i already took my vacation for later in the year in hopes that we would be returning to a BCS game.

So if we win, then i will be in Phoenix for the Fiesta Bowl.

I'm just happy we control our destiny now and not the poll voters who undeserving had Fresno so far ahead of us.

Even more interesting... UCF is trailing USF 20-16 in the fourth quarter.

Never mind.

Still, I see them dropping in the polls, which might shift even more votes to NIU.

How awesome would the MACC be if it were played on campus????? At least it would be a sell out.

I think that would be awesome, but maybe that's just me.

That being said, it does suck we had to root against Fresno. It's like the Hunger Games. The non-BCS schools are the districts and the BCS is the Capital.

With Fresno likely dropping out, I do not see UCF dropping, they're 10-1 with their only loss back in week 5 by 3 points with a Top 10 team.

Most UCF fans (at least on the message boards) are insufferable....too bad they lucked out and won tonight.

Didn't they also luck out and barely beat a 1 win Temple team a week or 2 ago???

Yes, and they only beat Memphis by 7 earlier in the season.

Fresno fans were absolutely ripping on our defense. At least we have one.

Another on bits the dust. Hope the Huskies show no mercy and continue kicking ass.

That would be ugly. Rather see them matched up with BSU, our "3rd best" team. That could be a really good match up.

No time to be petty, it's all the power conference's fault that MAC & MWC fans are flaming each other. As weak as the power conferences are this year, there should be 2 non AQ teams playing in big time bowls.

Absolutely, there are power conferences who don't have a single team that can play defense for 60 minutes(B12 anybody), no reason why 2 non AQ teams should not be playing in big time bowls this year
