Black Friday football
It's a black day anytime Akron beats anyone, but they are taking it to Toledo 17-10 at the half.

RE: Black Friday football
Toledo has mailed it in. They quit in the 4th qtr of the NIU game, and that has carried over to the Akron game. UT does not deserve to win this game. Had a 4th & 1 from midfield with about 3-4 minutes left in the half. Punt the ball to the 9. Force a 3 and out, then Akron goes for a fake punt on 4th & 3 and gets it, then marches right down the field to score. Just like last vs. NIU last week. UT punted on a 4th & 1 from the NIU 35 and downed the ball on the 1. NIU had a 3rd & 5, gets 6 yds and a first down, then proceeds to drive and score a TD. Pathetic.

I'll gladly trade teams if you'd like!

BTW, it's now 38-7 BSU.

Hard to believe that Akron was just a few yards in Ann Arbor away from being bowl eligible. Great job by Bowden over there.

Meanwhile in Muncie, Miami is on the verge of covering the spread! On another positive note, by not being shut out by BSU, we will not tie UL-Monroe for the worst PPG mark in DI history (7.8 I believe).

RE: Black Friday football
Akron finishes 5-7, and 4-4 in the MAC. Won four of their last five games to end the season. It was all a matter of confidence. When things looked bad, they would fight back instead of fading away. Such a difference from the last four seasons. You have to feel good for the Akron seniors, especially the handful that came in under JD Brookhart and stuck it out through everything.

If the MAC schedule didnt call for running the gauntlet in the MAC West and served up some directional Michigan instead Akron's season may still be going.

35-10 CMU over EMU in the 3rd.

Looks like we'll be bowl eligible...whether or not we get the call is another matter.

Congrats to Akron and to their wily veteran coach Terry Bowen and his experienced staff for coaching circles around Matt Campbell and his young staff. Campbell et al know how to recruit better than most but they are still young and learning the other aspects of coaching IMHO.

Does anyone know the score of the Central Michigan - Eastern Michigan game? ESPN stopped updating after the 3rd quarter.
