Underdog picks for this weekend's games
The game is to pick two underdog picks a week that will win outright. You get the points they were supposed to lose by. My nemesis (good friend whom I have a lunch bet over this with) has nearly caught me in points! I need to eliminate one of these picks, which should it be?

SMU @ Houston -9
Houston has lost three straight and SMU needs a 6th win.

Alabama @ Auburn +10.5
Bama hasn't played anyone worthwhile in months and their D can't stop high powered Os and Auburn is at home and just had a huge win over a healed up Georgia.

Iowa St @ West Virginia -8
Iowa State just had it's best game of the season and a bye and WVU lost at home to the team Iowa State just killed (Kansas), even though it ended their shot at a bowl game.

I've found I prefer to take the games where I think the favored team is overrated. I also considered Tulane @ Rice, but dropped it. Any comments?

Keep SMU, drop either of the others.

Sounds like an interesting contest with your friend.

It's actually a group of about 40, most of whom work at the same factory. He just made a side bet with me and two others after inviting me to join. The other two have a combined one win, but I've been around 10 ahead of my friend since week 4 and he nearly caught up last week by picking Oklahoma State over Baylor.

So? I don't pick games I care about. Too much emotion when I need logic.

Actually, it's not altogether true that I don't care. I do have a rooting interest in this game:

The meteor.
