Owls take page from academia, raise their game - Chronicle
There are some good quotes in Thursday's paper edition of the Houston Chronicle written by Randy Harvey (randy.harvey@chron.com).

Quote:With Bailiff's plan taking shape, conference title within reach, next step could be playing with big boys

Quote:His [Bailiff] long-term goal is for Rice to not only finish consistently among the top universities in graduation rates for football players but to finish among the top 25 in football rankings

Quote:Karlgaard told the Chronicle that Rice's goal should be to compete at the highest level of every sport, as it does in baseball.

Well, this is exactly what all of us should be happy to hear.

Now let's just see what sort of plans are put in motion to get us there.

Absolutely Love it.

We can be proud of and happy with what is taking place and STILL aspire for more.

Generally the trick is that if you search for the headline on Google, then clicking the link on google will get you past the paywall (but not for WSJ).

Playing with the Big Boys requires the Big Check.

Poets make it happen.

Sounds like he considers Hawaii the best consolation prize after Liberty. Apparently he's not concerned about the travel...

Hawaii is an amazing trip for the players, many of whom will never otherwise go there.

Best article I have seen on Rice FB in a very long time. Lays out vision, focus on product on field, getting key W's against quality opponents, AD and FB coach aligned, JK not wearing a sandwich board but is saying the right words, etc. This is what we all have wanted to see.

Combined w/ HRS announcements and athletic fundraising strategy all coming very soon...pieces are all coming together..
