If he leaves, VT is in trouble. Maybe it's time for Beamer to step aside and let Bud take over.

RE: UCONN looking at Bud Foster
At this point in his career, I don't see how he could turn them down. If he shows that he can be successful as a head coach, he could end up being the Hokies head coach in a few years.

That being said, UConn is a huge step down from the other jobs he's interviewed for in the past. Being successful at UConn is probably about as difficult as being successful at Duke.

I think UCONN can be competitive in the AAC. The issue I have with this is Beamer is holding on too long. The ACC needs a strong VT program.

I actually disagree. UConn is a state school with a large fanbase from its longterm success in men's and women's basketball and a new stadium. I'm assuming the facilities are new too from the time they upgraded to D1. Randy Edsall is a decent coach but I don't think he's a great one and he was able to make them into Big East champions after less than 10 years in division one. Paul Pasqualoni was just a horrible hire from day 1, I don't know what they were thinking.

If Foster has a couple of good years, which I think he can, he can take over for Virginia Tech.

make no mistake - if Foster leaves VT, the bowl streak ends and Beamer will get the Bobby Bowden treatment.

Beamer taught Foster. I think we'll be fine.

True, but Beamer no longer has the energy to compete at this level. Not in the film room and certainly not on the recruiting trail.

By all means go out and hire someone like London that can make all your dreams come true. Just do it with another team. I'll stick with Beamer.

This is my thought as well. Maybe 10 years ago Beamer could stomach this but not now. Imagine what VT's record would be like if the defense wasn't as good.

I completely disagree. Since Beamer has had his knee surgery and lost 40 pounds, he has twice the energy he had 10 years ago.
