Of course he can post whatever he wishes. I'm glad he does. I just consider Solomon articles a waste of time. It's the same crap over and over. Just a simple "Soloman:" just like he does with "Champlin:" before the title. That's all.

Carry on...

Do you consider Soloman a waste of time because he writes only about the negatives in UAB athletics or that he doesn't speak the truth about UAB athletics?

99 % of Soloman article about UAB football are negative.
Soloman is a typical bammer who love to kick UAB down
He is like every red neck bama fans who dont want UAB to have an OCS because anything who can affect UAT cannot be good for the redneck nation .
Most of the issue that those redneck (include solomon) bring against the OCS will never affect them ex= fear of tax increase ???? or UAB will bring less money to the ua system because the money spend on OCS
The same way of thinking belong to the most powerful ignorant reckneck name jr

If you think winning won't cure the attendance problem you need to have your head examined.

Yep, this is the impossible company line given by the BOT that UAB fans have now adopted.

How do you suppose we win?

Bring kids in that can go to other programs, not even as "big" as ours or in a conference as good, with better facilities? Take them to a game at the cavernous Legion Field while they watch a game where even 20,000 fans there seems like no one comes to watch you? What do we have to get the athletes to come in and compete for championships with?

Even if we did find a coach that could get all of that out of the talent we are able to recruit, he'd be gone the next year and we'd be on a coaching search. While we're on a coaching search there is no way that we are getting a stadium built.

Then again, even if we did fill up LF. Legion Field is not the answer. I don't want UAB to be good enough. I want UAB to be excellent...you know, like we are at just about everything else we do (but athletics). Legion Field is not the answer. Even if we did put 55k in the place, UAB would deserve a 60k seat on campus stadium. It's about investing in the program. As long as we pay to play in a place where we don't get to keep any of the profits that are made as part of a normal college football Saturday, then we will not make the money to then put back into football. Legion Field is a black hole for UAB football.

Legion Field is a black hole for UAB football.

The BOT is not going to approve athletic infrastructure spending by UAB unless it is fully funded by donations or athletic revenue dramatically increases and UAB's leadership is not going to fight them on this issue. Donations, attendance, and revenues are not going to increase dramatically until the product on the field improves significantly. That's not going to change no matter how many pep talks or guilt trips are laid on UAB alums and supporters. The hard truth is no $ from the board until the red ink is at least reduced and no $ from the fan base until the product is improved. UAB football lies firmly between the Crimson rock of the board and the Green and Gold hard place of hopeless Blazer fans.

So what can be done? Is it hopeless?

I don't think so but it's going to take some hard business decisions. Don't think in terms of what UAB should be able to do but what they can do. That's where my disagreement with the part of your post I put in bold comes in. Finding a coach that can make this team OVER-ACHIEVE is really the only option within UAB's power. The right guy coaches up the talent we can get, squeezes 6 or 7 wins out of them, and leverages that early success into improved talent and support. He comes in, excels, and then likely moves on to bigger $. We probably won't have the $ to keep a coach like that around until we've been through that cycle a few times but it would mean that UAB football had made important strides. The key is first getting the right guy in the job, and that starts by moving the wrong guy out as soon as possible. That's why there can be no extended waiting period for McGee, or anyone else.

Hanging in there and hoping for the best would be a questionable strategy if the coach was producing mediocre results. With McGee's dreadful performance it is downright insanity. If next year is the earliest time that he can be dismissed financially, then he should already know that clock is ticking.

It's the negatives over and over. Truth or not I just prefer not to read it. I know what our issues are. I'm at every home game to witness it.

Again, it's just my preference. Give me a warning it's a Soloman article and I'll avoid it and not increase his "hit" count.

Simple.
