UNC beating Louisville did Pitino a Favor..
A great early teaching point...

Still early and as long as they are clicking by 1 Feb 2014 is my only concern...that starts the Final 10 Regular Season Games and the push for a 3rd Straight Final Four:

Rick Pitino believes Louisville's frontcourt needs a fix in the wake of the Cardinals 93-84 loss to North Carolina Sunday in the Mohegan Sun Basketball Hall of Fame Tipoff finals....from the Article:

UNC's Kennedy Meeks (13 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists), Brice Johnson (13 points, 5 rebounds), James McAdoo (9 points, 2 rebounds) and Joel James (5 points, 6 boards) carved up Louisville in the paint and on the backboard. The Heels out-scored UofL 52-26 in the paint, and out-rebounded the Cardinals 40-35. When Montrezl Harrell fouled out, UNC cruised to an easy victory.

"We learned a lot from it," Pitino said. "I had some suspicions of where we were weak and they were confirmed (against UNC). Hopefully we'll grow from it."

Pitino wasn't happy with the play of starting center Stephan Van Treese or backup Mangok Mathiang. Those two combined for four points and three rebounds in 31 minutes. Neither Van Treese or Mathiang, a 6-10 rookie, blocked a shot against UNC.

Pitino also wasn't pleased with small forwards Wayne Blackshear and Luke Hancock. Blackshear attempted only one shot in 17 minutes and finished with no points, rebounds, assists or steals. While Hancock scored 10 points, Louisville's team captain made just 1 of 8 shots, many at point black range.

It's nice to know where the weaknesses are, but what's the fix?

Harrell is a beast, but where does UL turn to if he gets into foul trouble? Who steps up to the challenge?

Cheers,
Neil
