GameDay: Kentucky
Kentucky is a 18 1/2 point favorite.

Which Kentucky will show up? The one capable of being a top 5 team or the one which showed up Monday?

Glenn Bryant sat out the UTA with a tweaked ankle. Is he 100% today?

Will he get the duty to guard Julius Randle, the Kentucky stud?

Will Riley neutralize the Kentucky big men?

Has Kentucky learned how to go against a 2 - 3 zone from the CLE State game? At one point KY was 1 for 9 behind the arc. (remember KY is mostly a bunch of frosh - 5 frosh now start. Little experience).

Kentucky is a top 4 team in the country. EMU is top 4 in the MAC. Nevertheless, EMU matches up very nicely with Kentucky on a position-by-position basis.

Less than 12 hours before the tip. Game is on ESPN's Full Court package.

RE: GameDay: Kentucky
I like our chances of having a good showing. Let's face it, we have men. Kentucky has teenagers, albeit really talented ones. Our guys are battle tested adults, I will be disappointed if we don't hang around 18-20 points. Our depth is good, I'm actually pretty excited.

RE: GameDay: Kentucky
We are probably going to get beat handily. I'm sure some will be furious about that because "a team we beat gave Kentucky everything they could handle, so why couldn't we?!" They're one of the most talented college basketball teams I've ever watched, but any young team has growing pains and bumps in the road. The Cleveland State game was a good wake-up call for them...now we are probably going to suffer the repercussions.

I'll still be just as excited for the UMass game. It'll be nice to have a non-local ranked team come to our building.

This seems to be how in work in the real world.

I would rather have been CSU and played them Monday.

Not so fast my friend! UK 88 EMU 68. The game will never really be in doubt but Eastern hangs around keeping within 15-22 points throughout. A much better showing than last year.

I see use keeping it close with the zone and our outside shooting. It will come down to foul trouble if our biggies can last the game we have a better than 50% of a win. Also if any is on campus I will have it on the TV at the rec on the scond floor.

I'm going to take a flyer and guess that the team will do as well as our 3-point shooters AND Glenn Bryant take us.

IF Lee can score 20 - 25 and GB III can cause headaches for Julius Randle then the game could be interesting (say 10 - 15 point loss).

EDIT: We missed GB's energy Saturday night. None of the bigs played particularly well. We absolutely need big efforts from GB and Riley needs to patrol the middle and get 4 blocks. Put the fear of Da'Shonte in Randle. 02-13-banana

Riley is the key. If he plays well defensively, it could get interesting. Also, could this be Karrington Ward's coming out party?

With that thinking we can also state "is our team really that good ?" We barely beat Robert Morris while Buffalo beat them by a margin of 15 pts. Not to be too negative but I will be SHOCKED if we stay within 5 pts or win against Duke, Syracuse, UK or UMass.

Edit:

I agree with everything you said. My response was mostly to others thinking "We beat up CSU pretty good and they almost beat UK so why can't we?"

I never buy into the transitive property theory when it comes to sports, especially college basketball, where upsets happen all the time. The devil's advocate to your Robert Morris/Buffalo statement would be that we beat Cleveland State by double figures, and Kentucky only beat them by 7...so maybe we are really good?

I don't buy into either. It's still very early, but it's obvious that we are a better team than we were last year...even if Kentucky blows us out. I'm sure they'll destroy their fair share of teams this season.

Edit: nevermind. Missed your edit. Long morning haha

Okay, I'll say EMU will win by 1. 74-73
Kentucky could be tired after the close Monday night game.
If we hit our threes (+55%) and our free throws (+83%) it will be a close game.

I have no problem with your post except for the last sentence:

" My response was mostly to others thinking "We beat up CSU pretty good and they almost beat UK so why can't we?"

I don't think anyone posted that or said that or believes that.

You mean the block should have been called a held ball? Because after that he wrapped himself around that dude.

We are falling in love with the 3 ball...
