Kryptonite found?
NIU apparently has an achilles heel. And it resides on their kicker.
Is it contagious now?

RE: Kryptonite found?
That wind was kind of tough. I notice they ran up the middle on that one 4th and long, presumably to get Sims a shot from the middle of the field, which he made.
Given the conditions, he made 2 of 3, not too bad, though they were short kicks.

Yeah, I heard the wind was 20+ mph. Hard to pass or kick in that-especially longer passes or kicks.
Oh yeah, he is still better than the SDSU "kicker".

He was awful the week before in very good conditions.

He will be fine. Wouldn't want anyone else taking a clutch kick.

I think he means anyone else on the roster.
We just might find out Lynch can kick field goals too.

That was still one game. Not sure I can count the WMU game as another bad one. The snap was high on the XP that was missed. Although Sims did miss 2 or 3 in the bowl game against Arkansas State, thankfully it didn't matter. We've had more consistent kickers in the past, but most games it hasn't been an issue with Sims.

FG kickers almost never miss. However, your guy misses more than most in the MAC. Of course, take out the UT game and he's much better but if I'm in a BCS Bowl where I can't overwhelm a team with offense I'd give some serious thought to going for it on fourth and short inside FG range.

RE: Kryptonite found?
Simms was out for a couple of games, not sure he is 100% healthy. The backup placekicker is the punter who is scary bad. Heard they found a student on campus and invited him onto the team just in case. Can't confirm that. His next two games could be indoors so he won't have the weather as an excuse.
He has made clutch kicks in the last two MAC championships as well as the game winner at Iowa earlier this year, which was no gimme. If anything, his timing on the kicks he makes is excellent.

That (less than 100%) might explain the recent struggles. Or just a slump of sorts.

Simms Clutch Kicks:
2013 at Iowa 36-yards to win with .04 sec left
2012 MAC Champ vs Kent State 40-yards to tie in OT
2011 MAC Champ vs Ohio 33-yards to win as time expired
2011 vs Ball State 34-yards to win with .08 sec left (also 23-yard to tie with 2:46 left)
I think he'll be ok (I hope).

What are you talking about? Sims has made every big kick he's taken in his career, and he's taken a bunch.

RE: Kryptonite found?
He did miss a few FGs against Arkansas State, it was just fortunate we scored enough points it didn't matter. And he missed an XP in the MACC against Ohio.
