Michigan, for whatever reason, has struggled quite a bit out of the gate. But yeah that team tonight was way overmatched.

I think it's a concern even with JJ out there. We have a lot of length and quickness on the team, but are not tall or bulky at all down low.

It obviously becomes more of a concern when JJ is out. Dave simply can't matchup against smaller, quicker players though so these early games are especially brutal for him. Alex Kirk will be an interesting matchup because he is huge and doesn't move great by any means but likes to play on the perimeter, where Dave really struggles.

We haven't seen any zone yet. I wonder if Mick is saving that.

Weakness #1
Nobody can make jump shots, and free throw % is awful.

Free throws this year overall have been pretty good. JJ is the only guy that really struggles there. Tonight was a little down though.

I thought we showed the worst shot selection of the season tonight and also missed too many around the basket. Not a good night for the offense after all the progress we have seen to start the year.

The outside shooting and free throws were awful last night. The inside shooting wasn't much better.

Somebody needs to start making some baskets consistently.

On the plus side, they really weren't forcing the 3 pointers last night and they were pretty much all wide open looks gotten throughout the offense and typically from guys that can and will make them. Johnson needs to get one to get his confidence going because it sounds like he is a guy that can really light it up from long range. Definitely seemed to be a lack of focus and/or boredom. These guys need a test, so New Mexico can't get here soon enough.

A) It was the first game of the season
B) Michigan is not all that (at least so far) - they barely beat Fla St. in OT & lost to Charlotte

Like I said, Michigan has struggled quite a bit to start the year, especially given the level of expectations for that team.

With the competition take this with a grain of salt, but:
1. I really like the way the team is sharing the ball this year. Much better passing and cutting to get open looks at the basket.
2. The best I have seen the press operate under Cronin. 29 turnovers. Multiple 5 second and ten second calls. And the team had 3 or 4 guards out there at a time. They gave up a few layups, but mostly just caused havoc.
3. Mick mentioned that Rubles and Lawrence need to get more patient at the basket and not force things. Too many turnovers at that spot on the floor, but I think it can be fixed.
4. Somebody besides SK needs to heat up from outside. 3-19 from 3 last night. All of them were open shots.

Losing the best player in college basketball from the year prior and another upperclassmen leader, who just happened to be your two best offensive threats and perimeter defenders tends to make a team look sluggish.

Best? Eh, I would have taken about 10 or so players before him last year.
