I agree with those who have said that whoever comes in, gets a squad headed in the right direction. I don't know Wright's resume, but he certainly took over in a bad situation and kept things going in the right direction. All I know is, I'm glad we get you guys in Huntington (presumably) next year.

RE: FAU looks to name new coach by Dec 8th...
The article mentions that 2 coaches with prior head coaching experience have expressed interest in the job. Looking at coaches with Ohio State ties (where our AD Pat Chun is from), I'd venture a guess to say that those 2 may be Luke Fickell and former Marshall HC and current Texas A&M DC Mark Snyder. As for candidates with South Florida recruiting ties, I'd look at Cristobal and Cincy OC Eddie Gran.

That being said, should FAU win on Friday, I think Brian Wright could be the best fit of the bunch. I'm not sure FAU needs to start completely over at this point. Things are going pretty well under this regime.

Chun reiterated that FAU’s interim head coach, Brian Wright is still a candidate for the full-time job.

FAU AD Pat Chun wants to hire a head coach by the second week of December, but said there are plenty of “variables” in play

Im starting to get worried about these "Ohio State" guys. From what Im hearing they prefer an old school offense being Run heavy. To do that you MUST have big beefy linemen, and that is NOT somethign we can get a lot of as the all go to P5 powerhouses.

The article also says two things:

1. Two coaches showed interested. It does not say that Wright isn't one of them - in fact Chun says it is a possibility.
2. I got an impression that Fickle is NOT one of them...

Not sure why this is under the "Important Threads" section, but let's hope they get a good coach. I root for all of C-USA to win!

I didn't pin it, but football head coaching search for any of our programs is pretty important.....

If it's an Ohio State guy with head coaching experience, I think it might be more likely to be Everett Withers than Luke Fickell.

I'm gonna put my money on Withers.

I could be wrong, but I don't recall any other coaching search threads getting pinned.

Man, based on our experience with him, you do NOT want Mark Snyder. He was a terrible head coach, imo

This doesnt surprise me as he has ties to the program through Howard and was actually a QB coach here.

Luke Stampini ‏@LukeStampini 1h

I'm told WKU OC & former FAU QB coach Jeff Brohm will likely interview for the FAU head job this week. Connection to Howard from UL days.

Can't see him getting the job over Wright though.

I certainly hope that he doesn't take the job. I believe a large number of WKU fans would like to see Brohm take over as HC after Bobby P leaves, which I would guess would be within 2 years.

When we made him the QB coach here I had hoped for the same as well. Turned out to just be a "placeholder" job till he could get a AQ Coordinator gig.

I agree with 561, I would like someone with some HC experience or if not available a OC/DC from a high level P5 school. Wright would be better than Brohm at this point due to getting some game experience.

I don't see Snyder leaving Texas A&M. He seams to be really happy there and the university likes him as well. Why are they not giving their interim coach a shot? He seems to be doing and pretty good job. I'd sign him to a 1-2 year contract to see what he can really do.

Brian Wright is a candidate...and a strong one, but you have to see what else is out there. And a 1 or 2 year deal won't work. Any coach on a short-term deal would get killed in recruiting.

If you hire Mark Snyder, one thing you won't have to worry about with the Tan Man is the amount of time he spends in the tanning bed. The Florida sun should do the job at practice and maybe he can focus more on coaching than his skin tone in the fall/winter months.

And always remember "he's gonna get that fixed." We heard that for 5 years and 9 years after the first time we heard it, Doc Holiday finally fixed it.
