Exclamation Big Ten Expansion...The Plain Truth
04-jawdrop Take a long look at the map...and let's be honest. Doesn't the next and hopefully last expansion to 16 teams in the Big Ten shout out Mizzou and State University of New York (Buffalo)?

Big Ten should go for North Dakota St and West Virginia. Might be a respectable conference with those two.

DeVry and North Dakota State.

Seriously, Kansas and Buffalo look logical geographically and for academics. The Big 10 has already proven that athletic prowess is not a factor in the decision.

Please stop with the Buffalo suggestions. Just stop it. If the Big Ten wanted to add just any random AAU school for academic purposes, they would take Rice instead. The Big Ten is in the business of making money, and there's simply no chance of Buffalo making them money. The only schools that the Big Ten want at this point are all in Grant of Rights power leagues, which is why expansion at the standstill.

RE: Big Ten Expansion...The Plain Truth
IMO, if you disregard GOR. these are the most likely schools on the b10s wish list

texas, colorado, mizz, & texas a&m.

the b10 kinda got caught with their pants down in the last round of realignment where they made decent solid additions but not total blockbuster additions. i think the pitt notre dame & syracuse ships have already sailed and the b10s best option now is to try to raid the schools they can from the sec, p12, & texas.

the b10 may have been slow (pun intended) with adapting to the ever changing cfb landscape since they launched the btn. however this conference is notorious for having tremendous foresight & making bold moves that no one see's coming.

i really think that for now on conference realignment will only be major "larry scott style" moves. its lot harder to get to 16 teams than it is to get to 20-28.

for example if the b10 wants just unc- its damn near impossible for them to get. if the b10 invites unc along with uva, vtech, duke, uva, nc state & wf...........

those schools will all jump in a heartbeat.

the sec & b10 would rather bite the bullet and add 6 power schools rather than 2 sub par schools. and the b10 being the first to do this by taking the core of the acc or the core of the p12 is exactly the kind of blockbuster mentality that delany (and to a lesser extent slive) have.

07-coffee3 Frank the Tank, I do understand the failings of a Buffalo pick, though it looks strong as a "map choice"...you have to admit. So, bottom line, what does your gut say the Big Ten will do in the next expansion move? Go to 16, or more? And, what schools do they eventually add?

frank the tank is right about 95% of the time.

the only people who say buffalo to the b10 dont have a clue about how buffalo or the b10 operate.

just to put things in perspective:
buffalo was a private school for almost 120 years before becoming a SUNY school. their alumni still has a deep attachment to "University of Buffalo" and are determined to prevent the school from becoming any more closer to a flagship land grant

^^^^
does that sound anything like a b10 school to you?

as a lifelong b10 homer i think there are only two schools that the b10 faithful would say "over my dead body" if delany started naming them as expansion candidates

uconn & buffalo

Anyone who has ever been to the Buffalo Stadium would know that the Big 10 has zero interest in playing in that stadium. Zero.

I guess Rutgers will be a B1G money maker.... Moreover, I have to assume that the conference coudn't see the "B1G Picture" when Missou and KU were available....
