UMass Lowell, which plays UC at Fifth Third Arena at 7 p.m. Tuesday, is 0-5, with losses to Michigan (69-42), Boston U. (91-65), Dartmouth (77-59), Brown (87-76) and Rhode Island (79-68).

The River Hawks, in their first year of a 4-year reclassification period to Division I, are playing eight of their first 10 games away from home, while UC (4-0) continues on a run of playing its first seven games at home.

UMass Lowell, which plays in the American East Conference, is led by guards Akeem Williams (16.7 ppg) and Chad Holley (11.7). The River Hawks are playing without two players projected to receive substantial playing time this season – forward Antonio Bivins, who averaged 15.5 points and 7.4 rebounds last year, and incoming freshman Jahad Thomas. Both were lost to season-ending injuries.

UMass Lowell is 2-12 all-time vs. Division I programs, the last win coming on Nov. 28, 1989 over UMass. First-year head coach Pat Duquette is the cousin of Baltimore Orioles general manager Dan Duquette. His older brother, Jim, is the former GM of the New York Mets.

UC guard Sean Kilpatrick enters the game as the second-leading scorer in the American Athletic Conference, averaging 19.5 points. Louisville’s Russ Smith leads the league with 20.2 points per game.
