Denver is selling itself pretty hard for the Big East. Its BB isn't great and has no dance experience, but its pouring money into the program. Denver media easily tops Dayton and Richmond (VCU/Richmond). Denver lax is already set for the Big East. Adding Denver potentially sets up Gonzaga as an add.

Jumping to 12 should be a lock with VCU and St Louis. I don't think going to 14 is a bad move either with Umass and dayton or even Wichita. The big east should try to create the best hoop league regardless of school profile.

If UMass didn't upgrade their FB we would already be at 12. The next decision would be if we're expanding to 14 with Dayton and VCU.

I don't remember seeing any timeframes in the original TV deal.

Fox is supposed to pay 500 for 10 teams or 600 for 12. So it could be this year, or 2135.

If UCONN didn't upgrade their FB we would already be at 12. The next decision would be if we're expanding to 14 with Dayton and VCU.

Fixed.

Either works, if they want a public school.

And in either case, the decision on expanding to 14 with two of Dayton, VCU or Richmond would likely be "no". 12 seems to give Fox the inventory they want.

I hope you are right. This would be great news for the American Conference. We'll have a chance to pick up 1-3 schools if we desire to bolster basketball.

I think the American is in good shape to pick up whoever the Big East doesn't take.

The choices are pretty good: UMass/VCU/Wichita/SLU/Dayton.

One could do worse.

Exactly. The AAC can end up improving an already solid basketball conference if they are willing to add a few basketball only schools.
