caught a few minutes of the Lafayette-Lehigh game yesterday. and during the 10 minutes I watched, they mentioned next year's game is the 150th anniversary from when the teams first played. to mark the occasion they are playing the game at Yankee Stadium

and they have already sold 30,000 tickets for it. That's pretty impressive. I'm sure they'll end up with 40k+.

RE: OT: Lafayette-Lehigh
It might be difficult to reach 40,000 since they will be configuring the stadium to hold 36,000. I suspect that part of the deal included each school being allotted 15,000 as non-refundable to the Yankee's and doubt that all those tickets have been purchased by individuals at this date unless they have plans for these tickets to be part of their season ticket package. Never-the-less, its a good deal for the two schools.

Edit: They are definitely part of the season ticket package, I read too fast and skipped right over that. There are other holes in my post and I should have read your link a little closer.

Now, that's a different story. Good for them, I hope they just gradually open up more seats. It will help make the stadium look full on TV.

I grew up 5 minutes from Lafayette. In the same town, they have both The Lafayette-Lehigh rivalry, and the longest annual football rivalry, which is Easton HS - Philipsburg, NJ HS, which is close to 110 years I believe.

Good football town for tradition.

This got a mention on ESPN's College Game Day as well. They 'picked' this & the Harvard/Yale game, although it was pretty clear that no one really had a clue about any of the teams except Herbstreit, who talked knowledgeably about the Harvard QB.

Longest annual in what? According to the below list:
-Its tied for 74th longest in the US.
-Tied for 11th longest with a PA team.
-Tied for 7th longest with a NJ team

Even if you limit it to 1 PA and 1 NJ team, its 2nd, behind the Hill School (Pottstown, PA) and Lawrenceville School (NJ).

I guess you could call it the longest rivalry between an NJ public school and a PA public school.
