Gasol injury
Rumor is that Marc suffered a Grade 2 MCL tear and will be out for 10 weeks.

Its a shame because he just put up god like numbers on the road trip. We have Koufos(starter last season) so we will probably still be in ok shape when he gets back

Whatever it is, it'll likely be a case of when Marc is back, he's not totally back. Basically Z-Bo in the shortened season. That was right at 10 weeks, as well.

Personally I'm expecting the worst because it looked so innocent live. He never even went down. Just got sealed up and started limping.

Tough night. Rose and Andre Iggy also had knee injuries.

Won't be easy competing without Big Spain, but the grizz have no other choice.

Part of the game unfortunately.

Koufas started 80 games last year for a pretty good team. The Grizz have dealt with similar injuries in previous years and still made the playoffs. They will be OK.

RE: Gasol injury
I got worried when zbo went down, but the grizz held on.

I'm really worried about it being gasol the more i think about it, because he does so much for us on both sides of the ball. That leaves us with 2 solid bigs, and one of them doesn't play the center position very well on the defensive end.

I'm not as worried about koufos. He's a pretty good big. Now ed davis and/or leuer will be counted on to contribute.

10 weeks = feb 1, 2014 = 32 games missed if he plays on feb 1st. If i remember right, gasol came back from his ab tear last year quicker than expected.

Grizz currently 9th with a 7-6 record.

I wouldn't mind missing the playoffs if we hit a top 3 pick in the lottery.

We might not be a playoff team sans Gasol, but we won't suck bad enough to get a top 3 pick. There are only 3 teams in the East with a winning record currently. Deep as this draft is, though, we might be able to find a serviceable SF who can shoot 3's with a late lottery pick.

The Atlantic division has 3 of it's 5 teams in the top 10 of nba's highest team salaries. The two highest paid teams in the nba are at the bottom of the division. No one in that division is over .500. Sad part is their division leading TORONTO (currently 4th in the east and 7th in nba salaries) beat the grizz at home.

The east has been down for a while. I think the creation of some of the "super teams" in recent years doesn't help it out. I won't bother watching two eastern teams unless there is absolutely nothing else. I barely watched them last year and that includes the playoffs.

It's boring.

The only drama is if indy can hold off miami for the #1 spot, and that really don't matter either.

If he's out for 3 months, make it the season and tank it for one of the beastly big men that Kentucky has.

I think we can hold the fort. Koufos can fill in. The production won't be the same but he is a very good player.

Vernon:

RT @sam_amick: Grizzlies center Marc Gasol, I'm told, has a Grade 2 MCL sprain. No surgery required. Out indefiniitely.

RE: Gasol injury
Guess we will see what we have in our backups. Not going to replace one of the top centers in the NBA, so we will take a few lumps. Good news is Zack is still a beast and Conley knows how to take over when needed. We will see what Koufos can do but we definitely lose some points at the ft line and assists as Gasol is a great passer. Also going to see the real Ed Davis, for better or worse. Vets gonna have to lead.

That's a 2 maybe 3 week deal. Good news.
