I heard EMU has a dude on the sideline who counts the attendance with his fingers. Once he reaches 8 he just adds 10,000.

Why, under the current rules, would EMU count butts in seats? Given the option, under the current rules, to count tickets sold, including block sales to backers or sponsors, that's obviously the one they are going to go with.

for the BILLIONTH time, attendance at most schools is based off of tickets sold, not butts in seats. Why does "the number reported doesn't match what it looks like" rant continue to be a topic of discussion?

When you say 20K and its 14-15K or when you say 40 and it's 30K thats no big deal
When you say 10K when there is less than 1,000 that's a big deal.
When you do the above as a common practice that's plain lying..

I was at the Kent State game at Penn State this season. Due to crappy Rainey weather there was barely 40-45000 there yet the box score reads: ATTENDANCE: 92,371
So tickets sold works for everyone, even the big boys. Saying you had 15000 when 8000 showed up doesn't matter as much when a BCS school can add 50000 to their turnout and nobody says a word.

I don't think anyone cares when it happens in crappy weather or in a really bad year but when it drags on and on...

I bet EMU would LOVE to have as many butts in the seats as Miami had on Tuesday night......might be close to a sellout, LOL
