Not a Tiger fan, follow the Tribe, but always got a kick out of Prince, looks like you traded him. Too bad.

Frees up lots Of money for max and the bullpen. Also allows Miggy to go back to first and get a 3B with range.

Not signing Prince in the first place would have been shrewd, but I get where you are going with this.

RE: Fielder
His greatest offense was not so much his mediocre batting average (relative to his paycheck) and post-season flop. But his post-game interviews sounded like he didn't even care. As if his bank account was overflowing with dollar signs, so whether his team won or loss was inconsequential. I know he had tough marriage issues, but at least act like you care whether your team wins or not. For that reason alone, I'm not heartbroken he's gone.

Compare that to Delmas in his rookie year for the Lions, looking visibly angry and kicking a chair around the locker room when the losses piled up.

One example:
"It's not really tough, man. It's over," Fielder said in the clubhouse after a 5-2 loss in Game 6 of the ALCS. "I got kids I got to take care of, I got things I got to take care of. It's over."
He was quoted multiple times in the postseason sounding like he flat out didn't care whether we won or lost.

Yeah, he sounded like he gave two chits, and played like it during the playoffs when everyone else ramped up their games to the next level, he was on cruise control.

RE: Fielder
While I really liked Prince. I think this is a brilliant move by DD on many levels.

Clears HUGE $$. Which will allow them to go get or resign players.
There was always a question about that deal in years 6-9. Those questions are now gone.
After the post season he had, fans were turning on him which would be tough to start next season.
It gives them a ton of flexibility. They can move Miggy back to 1B which will be less stressful on his body. Castellonos is better at 3B than LF. Kinsler can lead off and Jackson move down.
Fills the need at 2B

Now the question is. Are they done? I still think they look to trade Max. I don't really want them to, but I will understand if they do. His stock will never be higher and if you don't you risk losing him after next season and getting nothing in return. That said, this might give them the payroll they need to keep Max and get Miggy a new deal as well.

Finally, I give DD a ton of credit for having the stones to pull off this kind of a deal.

RE: Fielder
sox fan here...i love baseball though, so i take this superstar style trades with great interest. basically, i think while the $ clearance is great for the tigers, i think kinsler will not be that great for you guys. his home/road splits with texas are absurd. superstar at arlington, mediocre away. add to that his injury history, the fact that 2b get injured with great frequency after age 30. on the positive side, you cleared money, and have a chance to move your superstar MVP Miggy to 1B where he'll be preserved.

I think Prince will thrive in texas, while Kinsler will flounder in Detroit.

Twitter would be slightly more tolerable if it wasn't for those asinine hashtags everywhere.

hashtags work well for what they do, categorize posts. But every hashtag in that post is idiotic

Maybe I'm wrong (I don't tweet), but I get the sense it's all gotten away from categorization and is now just a way to emphasize words/phrases in a 'funny' or 'creative' way.

pretty much. annoys me the most when the string on nonsensical hashtags is longer than the content of the post itself.

RE: Fielder
Prince didn't even hit the Mendoza line much less his weight last two post-seasons.

And apparently his weight was a concern to front office too.

Heard another report that he wanted out because Comerica is "too big" for him. At least that's his rationale for homeruns dropping from 38 to 25 in three years.

The moment I saw it scroll across the bottom of the screen, I thought to myself, 'great move, Tigers!' Accomplishes several things all in one trade.

what?

2012 - .313/.528/.940
2013 - .279/.415/.819

he was fantastic for you in 2012...decent but not up to his contract in 2013. of course, he killed me in my fantasy baseball league, but thats besides the point.

We weren't getting it done with him. Two years was enough to see a pattern. Hmmmmm
