Huh?

Yep

CY has received little (if any) public funds. The City just built a new $16 Million parking garage for Overton Square. Carry on.

You know the City wanted to build a parking garage for CY but the neighborhood association torpedoed it, at least to this point.

Why would you want the city to get involved in C-Y ? Isn't that a more resident driven revitalization Where Beale and Overton are City projects? City could really screw it up.

No, the CY Business Association and one of the property owners wanted to build a garage on Young Ave with city funds. The Community Association didn't torpedo it at all, there just wasn't much support for it.

Not sure exactly sure if the Business Association or Community Association receive money from the city. The CY Festival is the main source of fundraising for the CYBA whereas the Beerfest and Art for Art's Sake Auction raise money for the CYCA for upkeep of the trestle and neighborhood.

There is plenty. You just have to know where to look. Check out Jason Isbell for one.

I don't know if she's been to Memphis, but Grace Potter puts on a hell of show and she's easy to look at.

She has been and within the last year or so I believe.

It annoys me when people say there's no original music around anymore. It's evn worse when they say except country. There is plenty of original music in every genre.

Where do I even start. Stop listening to top 40 radio and you'll find some good original music.

Country is far from original anymore with it's pop/country sound now. This new "modern" country ain't country IMHO.

Check out WEVL and listen to some of the morning shows and you'll hear some original music. What is good original will get picked up and copied but that is just business.
