It is embarrassing. HCGM has his work cut out for him. What a formidable task.

It's weird. As the conference has lost teams, and brought in others, we have progressively gotten worse.

An interesting quote from the article

"The basement of C-USA is particularly dark. Three teams, UAB, UTEP and 2012 C-USA Champion Tulsa are sitting at 2-8, FIU at 1-9 and Southern Miss 0-10, without a win since 2011.

Not only are these teams bad, but also they will probably be bad for a while. Herd fans witnessed the inability of Southern Miss and UAB first hand in back to back weeks as the Herd won by a combined 117-27. Tulsa has free-fallen after an 11-3 season (apparently there is a curse on C-USA champions) and FIU’s head-scratching decision to fire coach Mario Cristobal has been followed up with a 1-9 record."

But I find it funny that this coming from Marshall sportwriters. Its not like they have been setting the world on fire. Hell we beat them last year. But they have been decent since they came into CUSA, only finishing over .500 twice in 8 years, but winning at least 4 games all except 1 year.

In 2012 they were 5-7
In 2011 they were 7-6
In 2010 they were 5-7
In 2009 they were 7-6
In 2008 they were 4-8
In 2007 they were 3-9
In 2006 they were 5-7
In 2005 they were 4-7

"The bottom five teams’ combined four conference wins are all over each other. The middle three teams (UTSA, FAU and LA Tech) are a combined 2-10 against teams that are already bowl eligible."

Fighting to be the best of the least...

When USF came into C-USA it had essentially the same physical facilities as UAB had at the time. That didn't last long as they set out to build a strong infrastructure - including a stadium - and have gone on to a better conference. Some of our newer members have already built an infrastructure and some are already looking at UAB in their rear view mirror. We MUST build what others have already built, or are building, or we will be doomed to "looking at tail lights" for more and more schools.

And how do we do that with a board that doesn't seem willing to let us do that. Do we raise money and get shot down by the board, or do we pray for a plane crash with most of the board on it, and the next day move forward.

[Sarcasm font on]
Maybe we just wait until enough concussion info becomes available, that then football is so drastically changed that we look smart for not having invested in a sport that will in the near future rapidly drop in popularity, stature and revenue because of lawsuits. Then unburdened by debt for underutilized facilities, we are in a better position than our peers.

USF still uses the Tampa Bay Bucs stadium, Raymond James Stadium. Some have pointed to this (not having their own stadium) as a reason they have been surpassed by UCF. Of course, Raymond James stadium is in different stratosphere than Legion Field.

USF plays in the same stadium as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They don't have a stadium.

Maybe you meant UCF?

As both posters pointed out, USF does NOT have its own stadium, but it does have many other facilities they have built since joining C-USA. If our facilities problems were ONLY a lack of an OCS, we would be much better off and far more competitive in our league.
