They are asking everyone to sit on the side of the stadium that the tv cameras face.

Quote:The UAB athletics department is encouraging Blazer fans to sit on the east side of Legion Field when the UAB football team plays host to the Rice Owls on Thursday, Nov. 21.

The Blazer football team will also move from the bench on the west side of the field to the east side for the game.

In addition, the UAB student section will be relocated behind the Blazers' bench on the east side.

The Thursday night contest (6:30 p.m. CST) between the Blazers and Owls will be televised nationally by Fox Sports 1.

"We are hopeful of a good turnout for the Rice game," said UAB Athletic Director Brian Mackin. "With the television broadcast of the game, we want to fill the east side of the stadium and are asking our fans to assist in this effort by sitting on the east side of Legion Field. It is our intent to present a positive image to all the viewers who will be watching that night.

Buffalo actually did this (permanently) a few years ago where they switched the "home" side to the side of the field the cameras point at. Interestingly enough, this is the side opposite the suites at the stadium.

Yeah, that was a good move for TV purposes and also switched the Bulls from the shade to the sun. It's a little rough during those 3:00pm starts because the sun angle is right in your face on that side, but in Buffalo you kinda' want to be on the sunny side in Oct-Nov.
