Wallace Wade Renovations??
I know there was some chatter about this happening, but it seems like that was a few years back. You guys are 8-2, there's no better time than now. What's the general feel around there regarding the ETA for this plan to become a reality? Hope it happens soon!

Found this, but also sounds like Duke is downgrading their plans. Too bad.

RE: Wallace Wade Renovations??
Duke started fund raising about a year ago. That video was designed to justify the $250 million they were soliciting. I'm sure they have their priorities. I'd bet seating expansion for football is low on the list. Especially since they need to move the track first. I'd also bet improvements to Cameron are high on the list. Honestly the biggest bang for the buck would be skyboxes/suites. Duke has a lot of very rich fans. They could sell those in a heartbeat.

The "bunker suites" was kind of interesting.

This part is dumb and a waste of time and money IMO:

"They are also considering changes to Wallace Wade’s metal bleachers. In 2009, the upstairs seats at Cameron were painted blue, a potential change that may be replicated as soon as next season, if it happens."

The last thing they need to do is add seats. They are averaging just over 26k in a season they will be in the division race until the end of the season, and coming off averaging 28k in their first bowl season since 94. Even when they were winning in the late 80's they only sold out when UNC, NCSU, or Clemson came to town and turned it into a home away from home.

Do some renovations. For God's sake build a visitor's locker room that isn't a couple hundred yards from the stadium and isn't the size of your standard smart car. Build some amenities. But wait until you have a demand before you expand the stadium.

All of that.

Duke should do everything in that video except enclose the football stadium. Instead, put a "fieldhouse" there.

When GT plays up there they huddle behind the trees behind the scoreboard at halftime. PJ wouldn't say if that meant players were doing some artificial foliage watering.

RE: Wallace Wade Renovations??
Most of what I'm hearing is that Duke plans to remove the track and move fans closer to the field, which add a small amount to the attendance. The major upgrades will be a new press box with premium seating, and renovations to bathrooms, locker rooms, concession areas etc. Instead of a complete bowl they may add a hill side seating like Wake & UVA with plans to add seating down the line if necessary

RE: Wallace Wade Renovations??
makes absolutely great sense for duke- a small private school. Make it plush compact smaller stadium with fantastic fan acumen's. ''

Stanford did this about 10 years ago, it was a stadium that hosted the super bowl in the seventies, and they couldn't fill it they reduced capacity and really installed alot of luxury features that are really first class and rivals anything int he NFL.

No reason Duke can't focus on this niche market.

However, there are some MAJOR infrastructure issues they have to hit. This includes new visiting team locker rooms and services, basic concession services and rest rooms for attendees, easier entrance gates, and even repair of seating (some cracking of the concrete). It reminds me alot of old university of penn stadium in Philly
