The lead was just about cut in half and Herbie specifically mentioned the Ball State/ NIU game as what is good with college football. Sounds good.

I think a lot of it is going to come down to the teams between Fresno and NIU in the polls. Obviously the pollsters don't think much of anyone NIU or Fresno plays, so it probably comes down to that.

Wisconsin, Oklahoma, LSU, UCF, Louisville, UCLA (on top of Fresno are the teams you want to root against if you're an NIU fan.

Please read my fearless poll prediction for this week thread. It was no surprise NIU was in position to make up about half the deficit in the computers, the problem is, THEY ARE NEARLY CAPPED now in the amount they can make up in the computers. The rest of the way it has to be 90% humans and there is no way in heck NIU can make up that much ground humanwise when NIU gets penalized by the Coaches for beating the 35 team. This week's human polls was check mate for NIU's BCS chances. Just win the MAC now, that's all we can do, and while not a BCS game its still a good accomplishment. But, forget about the BCS now, coaches have stated emphatically they will not allow NIU in.

The voters are not going to move NIU ahead of Fresno unless Fresno loses.

The voters don't have to move NIU ahead of Fresno for NIU to jump Fresno. They just have to move them closer.

Pretty much, Fresno has to lose. Beating a 9-win team by 21 and losing votes in the Coaches Poll shows that the coaches do not want to let us in.

Not a tiny bit closer though, ALOT closer, like half the distance closer. If NIU loses Coaches votes to Fresno in a week where NIU beats a top 35 team by 21 while Fresno is idle, what makes you think can make up one hundred and some votes by beating Toledo and WMU. Ain't going to happen, plain and simple.

Baylor should easily beat #10 Oklahoma State and give them a second loss next week.
Ohio State should easily beat Michigan State later on , which could knock them out of contention.

Good marketing should help.

Lot of games left to be played for a lot of teams. NIU isn't jumping anyone simply by beating Toledo and WMU. Teams will lose though.

MD...how much did you expect NIU to move up when nobody around us lost? We will gain on Fresno State when the teams between us in the human polls lose. Even the teams just behind us since I'm sure they're taking away some of our votes.

Real potential for a Huskie move up.

There is so much football to go. I am of the opinion that Toledo carries a larger "national" brand than Ball State and a convincing win against them will possibly move the human voters more than we think- even more than Ball State win even though we know that does not make sense.

Yeah and if those teams lose it means someone else wins and if someone else wins that is all the reason coaches need to have them pass NIU. Quit fooling yourself, results don't matter.

Of course. And that's not to say even if all that happens NIU jumps Fresno. Arizona State might jump NIU. It's just impossible to predict.

Lotta stuff is going to happen. Some of it will be unpredictable.

Enjoy it. Beat Toledo.
