Do You Like Our Chances Against Houston?
I have to admit after watching our Bearcats click on all cylinders and pretty much dominate Rutgers on the ROAD, I am feeling much more confident that we can get a win on the road against Houston next Saturday. While the win at Rutgers was impressive, Houston lost a close game at Louisville and should be another step up in competition. Below are the overall team stats for UC, Houston and I included Rutgers as a comparison to Houston. Similar to Rutgers, I like how our passing offense potentially matches up against Houston's pass defense. Add to this the fact that Kay is playing confident at QB and "locked in the zone" right now. Can you say pass, pass, pass......

UC FBS Ranking
Rushing Offense 172.6 (63rd)
Passing Offense 306.1 (19th)
Overall 22nd
Rushing Defense 97.4 (5th)
Passing Defense 207.4 (22nd)
Overall 8th

UH FBS Ranking
Rushing Offense 150.8 (82nd)
Passing Offense 291.9 (24th)
Overall 44th
Rushing Defense 147.1 (38th)
Passing Defense 270.1 (104th)
Overall 77th

Rutgers FBS Ranking
Rushing Offense 143.4 (87th)
Passing Offense 253.3 (48th)
Overall 74th
Rushing Defense 105.1 (9th)
Passing Defense 327.9 (114th)
Overall 90th

RE: Do You Like Our Chances Against Houston?
No, but I also didn't like our chances against Rutgers and was pleasantly surprised. And Louisville is overrated, so I don't read too much into that. I think Houston is the tougher game, Louisville the tougher opponent. More hopeful this team can be successful if the players and staff really are starting to gel.

The UC is playing right now I like our chances, but think it will be a tough game.

I think it will be a good game. UH can pass like nobody's business so they will put up points on us. But our offense is going to move the ball on them and score as well. I am expecting a shootout.

RE: Do You Like Our Chances Against Houston?
Personally, I think that passing offense is a bit overrated. They looked very mediocre against a decent U of L defense, so I think our defense should be able to do the same. We have to watch the turnovers though. I don't know how many times the announcers in the UCF game threw out that they were #1 in the country in causing TOs.

This will be a tough game, but I think UC can win it. Our pass defense was pretty good yesterday against Rutgers. Obviously, UH throws it much better than Rutgers. But UC should be able to score with the way Kay and our receivers are gelling. Predicting a 38-28 UC win.

UH won't be able to cover our WR core….McKay is playing lights out right now and McClung and Washington are dangerous. If Kay has any protection at all, he will throw 300+yds and multiple TD's against UH.

I seriously doubt that. Our secondary leads the nation in interceptions, if Bridgewater and Bortles couldn't throw TD passes on us, I'm pretty sure Kay won't either.

meh

Kay's completion % is through the roof and better than the qb's you listed. Our WR core is pretty good. This should translate into Kay and the boys putting up some numbers on you guys.

Remember, their best wr didn't play in ul game. That hurt their passing game quite a bit.

With a passing defense ranked #104, somebody is putting up the passing yards. Right now I think our passing game is better than any of Houston's opponents, with the probable exception of Louisville.

And Louisville's pass was completely shut down.

I guess, if you consider 19 of 29 and over 10 yds per completion completely shutting it down.

Not to defend UofL (uggh) but when you consider that they averaged 120+ more yards per game in their other games, almost 3 TD passes per game and around 14 yards per completion.... yeah, I'd say UH pretty much handled their passing game. The stats for UofL look great on the surface but compared to their normal performance it was subpar.

IMO, UC's game with UH is going to be pretty much like the Broncos/Chiefs game last night. We know UC and Houston can score (both average around 35/game) and both defenses are pretty stingy points wise. I could care less about yards, this isn't fantasy football - you don't get points for yards gained. This game will come down to whether the UC offense from the Miami and Illinois (sans Munchie's injury obviously) shows up or the one from Rutgers and UConn. UC needs a quick start to at least calm the crowd. IMO the Bearcats don't need to score every time in the early going but we definitely cannot be predictable. Hopefully Coach TT has a surprise or two left and this group seizes the opportunity in front of them.

You know what will completely surprise the Coogs? RDAIV up the middle on first downs. The time is ripe. They will never see it coming...

UH pass def ranked 104th in the country. We'll see on Sat. Should be a fun game.
