RE: ECU ranked 32nd in Coach's poll
I don't think anyone besides the conference champion will remember who won. No one will remember who was ranked higher. And what I was saying was... I think you meant "I couldn't care less" as opposed to "I could care less"

That 3-0 was whiskers away from being 1-2 (FAU and Tulsa). Computers may not see that, but that 7-3 record is really, really close to being 5-5; which is probably what a human would look at against an incredibly weak watered down schedule.

We beat Tulsa by 2 scores not exactly that close and the game wasn't as close as the score.. Also just as you can say we could easily be 5-5 you could also say that we could easily be 10-0 as our losses are by a combined 13 total points.. The computers also don't see that but an objective person can look at it and see that 7-3 is right where we are supposed to be.. We're a couple bounces away from 10-0 but we're also a couple bounces from 5-5... Instead we're right in the middle I'd say that's about right with how we've played

No I couldn't care less means no way no how I could care less about those rankings.. But if we are the CUSA Champions I would actually care less about them lol

Marshall and ECU have common wins over UAB, USM, FAU, and Tulsa. We both have a win over a 1-AA, we both have a loss to VT. We lost to OU, they lost to Tulane. We beat a really bad Miami, they beat a really mediocre UNC. They beat Middle by 7, we lost to them by 2. Yes, their body of work is better, but certainly not twice as good.

It's a computer glitch. UNT should be ranked higher than ECU.

I think Marshall is underrated. As you pointed out our schedules are very similar. I also think that on the field it will be a very close game. But your comparison went bad there at the end. We beat UNC (5-5, #52) on the road while you beat Miami(OH) (0-10, #121) at home. The home and road thing doesn't matter for BCS rankings (I'm actually not 100% on that but I don't think it does) but the BCS rankings of those teams certainly do. Then as you pointed out ECU beat MT while Marshall lost.

ECU's losses are to #40 and #74. Marshall's are to #40, #67, #72. That's 2 losses at an average of #57 for ECU and 3 losses at an average of #60 for Marshall. ECU's two best wins are #52 UNC and #67 MT, while Marshall's two best wins are #83 UTSA and #87 FAU.

Like I said, I think that on the field the two teams are going to look very similar, but in terms of BCS rankings (while I think Marshall is a bit underrated) it shouldn't be too much of a surprise. If ECU picked up a 3rd loss to MT, which they weren't too far from doing, the rankings would be very close.

Think what you want but we lead the game for all but 8 minutes of it and we won it by 11.. It should of never been that close as we piled up over 600 yards of offense and limited them to less than 350.. We let them in it by shooting ourselves in the foot, which we have a habit of doing and its entirely possible that we could do it against you guys.. Which will lead to an a** kicking but the case remains we are just as close to being 10-0 as we are 5-5

So I assume all you ECU fans would gladly forego a CUSA championship this year to be ranked ahead of Marshall? Yeah right.

Man, it took 6 months, but I finally got a well reasoned, logical, intelligent take on a post from an ECU poster. I sincerely want to thank you. Not being sarcastic, I really mean that.

And I concur, the performance we put on at Middle was costly, and nothing against Middle, unexplainable given how both teams were playing going in to that game. Also agree on the Miami/UNC issue. I wish we would have had a mid level AQ team instead of Miami on the schedule, or had VT at home this year.

If Marshall beats ECU, then they get the benefit of all of ECU's work this season. They'll have the better season, because it would end in a conference championship appearance.

Not if they lose in the Championship game. At the end of the day they likely would still finish behind us even if they did win the Championship game as little as they have done this year otherwise and being almost 40 spots back, you don't just make that up late in the season by upsetting us and beating North Texas.

We can get a bowl match up as attractive as Vanderbilt most likely in the Military and most of our fans would rather go there. Winning CUSA is no prize this year as horrible as it has been and as unattractive as the Liberty Bowl match appears. When they get a win over one or two BCS schools including one that will be in a bowl most likely then they might can talk. They have 4 total in their entire history. That's more of an accomplishment than winning CUSA as god awful as it's been this year. Seriously this conference's third best OOC win is likey a transitional FBS school that we beat.
