I truly believe this might be UTEP's women's best team ever with all the talent they have back. I wonder if voters will start noticing us now especially with that 50 point blowout of K State.

No love from the press. Maybe when the coaches poll comes out tomorrow.

MT's ladies got 9 points for #32. A win over Miami came last Friday. They play at Arkansas and hopefully will win.

You finished 4th or 5th in C-USA last year; 1 win isn't going to put anyone in the top 25.

yeah and we also had 2 starters out with torn ACLs to start off the season and 2 more at the end. If not for injuries, we would have ran away with the title last year.

The ECU gals are looking good at 4-0 already. They finished 2nd in CUSA last year and they look better this year.

Unranked team beating an unranked team doesn't equal top 25 no matter how badly they beat them. If you're as good as that score suggests, you'll get there soon enough.

Yes. And plus I would imagine most AP voters won't care if you had players out with injuries just who you beat this year and how you look now.

My comment wasn't towards the votes, it was towards your comment about UTEP "finishing 4th or 5th." I should have been more clear, I suppose.

Lady Miners pick up 1 vote in the AP Poll. Middle Tennessee gets 2.

Is this right? Admittedly I don't watch much women basketball, but ESPN shows that Middle Tennessee's record is 1-3. How can a team that is 1-3 be receiving any votes in a poll?

In fact how is UTEP getting votes, but the ECU women are not?

ECU is:

1. 5-0;
2. They finished 2nd in CUSA last year;
3. They went to the WNIT last year; and
4. ECU got 2 of ESPN's top 100 freshmen.

Can't speak about MTSU, but UTEP is 4-0 with an average margin of victory of 34 points. The closest game the ladies have had came against a division 2 school 75-58. In games against division 1 schools, UTEP is averaging 90 points per game, while only giving up 50 ppg

I had a former UAB women's basketball player ask me who in the conference is picked to win it this year? I knew the answer immediately...UTEP. They have damn near everyone coming back. They pay us a visit on January 8...Should be a hell of a game. My dark horses are Southern Miss & of course, UAB.

I don't follow WBB, but I know USM already lost to some garbage team.

The Lady Raiders are receiving votes because they quite possibly have had the toughest schedule in WBB to start the season. Probably should have beat #4 TN, beat a good Miami (FL) team, surprisingly was never in the game vs an undefeated Arkansas team, and hung right with #7 UK this past weekend. Playing several freshmen to boot against top competition. After playing top teams early, they should be primed to make a run at the CUSA championship this year!

This is good to know info! I do follow WBB, and I'm curious about the newcomers to the conference, esp. La Tech, ODU and MT.

Annnnd it's actually MT.

CUSA Women's Preseason Press Release

But seriously, it looks like Jan 11 @ La Tech and Jan 15 at home versus UTEP will tell the tale for the season.

We got 2 votes this week after winning the Gulf Coast Showcase. 4-3 with #13 RPI in the country and #3 SOS.
